Great location

A house with lots of outdoor options. State parks, wildlife refuges, lakes, and golf all available within 30 minutes drive. The home has lots of room to either hang out with the group or retreat to your own space. Our group really enjoyed the outdoor fireplace/patio.

Luxury, Rustic seclusion and peaceful serenity

5 of 5
It was everything and more that the listing describes... after scenic drives to view fall colors in and around Buckhorn State Park which is minutes down the road... we had a fantastic dinner at the Dirty Oar supper club on Petenwell Lake with the sunset view over the water, spent the next day relaxing at cabin, making a breakfast feast in the kitchen and slow roasting dinner on the provided grill outside for dinner.. the fire pit under a million stars was priceless.. movies indoors during a thunderstorm was great and on our way out, enjoyed a wonderful lunch at the Buckhorn Cafe.. Thank you Janette for your true hospitality to make our stay perfect. - Daryl T

Has all the amenities! Relaxing and peaceful...

4 of 5
My family and I stayed a week through Labor Day. 1st impression of the vacation home was clean with everything one could need from the large deck outside to the cable and internet available inside. Nicely decorated, game room in the basement, nice big kitchen for preparing a good meal. We were able to enjoy both the Packer and Badger game which was a big plus for my teenagers. During the day we utilized the small trail system behind the home with our ATV's, its basically a 2 mile loop but kids still enjoyed the ride. Only down fall to this home was the largely over grown yard. I know the home owner is still working hard to finish the home as its very new so I am only assuming its on a list of things to do. Castle Rock is a quiet little area with not a whole lot to do but relax and enjoy nature. The home is close to a boat landing but if your looking to enjoy the water you will need to plan a day trip to a near by beach or eatery with water views. We found the nearest grocery store in Mauston a 15 min drive, we utilized this a few times, very convenient! Overall I think this vacation home offers everything one could need or want with a beautiful north woods view, I would however make note that the water is a distance away, the ATV trails are small, and the yard is a work in process. Owner was awesome and very accommodating! On a side note I noticed that once the snow flies the trail system opens up and I would bet that this home would be ideal for those who enjoy the snowmobiling season. I would highly recommend!
