WANT FOR NOTHING IN THIS PRIVATE GETAWAY!

5 of 5
My adult daughter and I scheduled a rather last minute trip to Berkeley Springs and we had the good fortune of stumbling upon one of Jackie's properties. Initially we were looking at her 1 bdrm but it was taken so we reserved the 3. I explained that I was in a wheel chair from an accident and while I was very aware that this was not handicap accessible, it was NOT difficult to get around inside. Our first impression was how clean and fresh and new everything looked and smelled. Each room, bathroom, and the kitchen were well appointed and had enough initial stock to allow us to arrive and be comfortable. Jackie offered to bring me a shower chair, she offered to arrange furniture, just about anything to be sure I felt safe and comfortable. The cabin is in a very accessible but private location and you feel as though you are a million miles away from your worries. We loved it. My daughter used the outdoor hot tub, and the hammock. She was disappointed she didn't have a foosball partner! We enjoyed breakfasts on the deck and dinners inside at the dining table. During the day, we had a 10-20 minute drive into downtown BS from our front door (traffic is VERY unpredictable) and we took in the local shops, baths, and multiple spa sessions. It was great to get back to "our home" at the end of it all and get our feet up in the recliners and then climb into our own king size comfie beds. This was definitely way more space than we ever needed but we now know that whether we go just for girls weekend or if we want to take the family, that she has both of those available because the host is IMPORTANT and this was PERFECTION!

BEAUTIFUL HOME WITH LOTS OF GREAT TOUCHES

5 of 5
We loved the house! We stayed on first and second floor and had plenty of space for 10 of us. The house is well stocked and furnished. The only suggestions we have are for an upgrade on silverware and rocking chairs on the huge deck overlooking the gorgeous woods. Our trip included dinner in town, art gallery(small but interesting) fishing, swimming, horseback riding, biking on the canal trail and lots of walks and good old fashioned porch sitting! We also enjoyed a Berkeley Springs massage and Roman bath. There is really lots to do just a short drive away. I would definitely recommend this house.

YOU WON'T FIND A MORE RELAXING PLACE

5 of 5
I've never taken a more relaxing vacation than the trip we took to Seebert/Marlinton last year. We've done the theme park trips like Disney World - they're fun, but expensive and exhausting. Beach trips are nice, but the beaches are so crowded in most places that it just isn't relaxing. Five minutes after arriving at Jeff's Place, we felt like we had already been on vacation for a week. Peaceful and relaxing don't even begin to do the place justice. The location is awesome. You get all the peace and privacy of being in the middle of nowhere, without actually having to be in the middle of nowhere. The cabin is in a fairly private location, but it isn't like you are in the middle of the woods with nothing around. There is a store right across the river from the cabin - a ten minute walk on the roadside, or a two minute walks across the river if you don't mind getting your feet wet. The store sells the basics: camping supplies, souvenirs, various grocery and household staple items, bait, and it has a pizza shop. If you like nature, it is literally right outside your door. As we were unloading our bags from the car, I heard a shriek and looked up just in time to see a hawk snatching up a chimpunk for dinner about fifteen feet from me. Looking out over the river in the morning and evenings, you will see heron, ducks, turtles, and other animals wandering by. The cabin itself is perfect. On demand hot water. A very nice and well supplied kitchen with pretty much all the pots, pans, utensils and whatnot that you will ever need. Comfortable beds. The living room has a nice TV wtih DirecTV and a dvd player... and what is possibly the worlds most efficient woodstove. We went in the fall when temps outside were getting into the mid 40s at night, and we had to have the windows and doors open with even a small fire going because it would heat the cabin up to over 80 degrees with them closed. All in all, Jeffs Place may be called a "cabin", but it boasts nicer atmosphere and better features than most high end hotels. Be sure to check out the town of Marlinton close by for restaurants, things to do, and, during the late spring, summer, and early fall, be sure to check out the farmers market. The produce is great quality and ridiculously cheap. There are usually also local farmers selling top quality meat for way less than grocery store prices, and for much better quality. You owe it to yourself to take a vacation like this at least once.
