Wonderful house and experience

5 of 5
My family and I stayed here for a long weekend and we had a wonderful time. This was our first time in the Canaan Valley area. We've rented beach houses in the Outer Banks before, but nothing like this. The owner was fantastic to work with. He was very attentive and responded promptly to every question/need. He had a wealth of advice about the area. Since we were coming from out of the area and had no idea what to expect, it was very nice to have someone so helpful. And the property ... I can't say enough good things about it. Everything was clean and well kept. And so well stocked. Every time we said "Oh I wish I had ..." or "I wonder if there's a ...", the house had it. There were so many little things about the house that improved our stay too. The covered parking area was a godsend when we arrived in the rain. We all want that island in our kitchens now too. We also loved the outdoor fireplace. The open layout was great for our family; we could be together without being on top of each other. I was very happy with all of the seating throughout the house too. There was room for everyone and we could all be comfortable. The house is in a great location, close to 3 resorts and all the major activities. It's a very quiet area; I rode my bike on the road every morning and only saw 1 car. There's a trail right outside if you want to walk and plenty of outdoor seating if you'd rather relax. We were sorry to leave and would like to come back again.

Canine Haven for the Eagles!

5 of 5
We stayed at the Eagle's Haven in Feb 2014. Though some of our group couldn't make it at the last minute, even if they had - this house would still have been more than we needed! We loved the spacious rooms.. Open living room/dining/kitchen area surrounded by the wonderful gated deck. The canines loved sunbathing in that deck while we enjoyed the hot tub, though we thought something to block the almost constant breeze from chilling you so much while in the hot tub would have made it feel warmer. Brr! Loved the grill on the deck right outside from the kitchen. We thought about making a fire in the fire ring, but it was a bit chilly and damp to gather wood. Better instructions, maybe a diagram, to figure out how to turn the shower on in the downstairs bathroom would have helped a great deal too. The coffee pot leaked when we first used it, and the new one was delivered the next morning. (We informed them about midday/evening time.) The downstairs movie viewing and upstairs gaming time were both hits! People and canines all had a great time! Hope we get the chance to stay again! And maybe next time we will make it to the ponds, (signs showing which way to go would help.. Though the slick roads would have kept us either way I think.) The grill on the deck near the kitchen was nice too. Great views. Wish there was more snow. We all hope to have a return trip to Eagle's Haven. It's more house than we need, though it was great to take the whole family. (Canines =D )

Golden Anchor Queen Honeymoon Suite

5 of 5
After debating on where to go for our honeymoon, my wife and I decided to book a cabin at the Golden Anchor Cabins & Restaurant near Canaan Valley (WV). Let me say this was the first time I have ever stayed in a cabin. The outside of the cabin looked very nice and well maintained. After walking through the front door I was a little lost for words. The inside looked like something out of a magazine. The interior has it all, there's a full kitchen with various supplies included, a living room area with a large tv, a warm fireplace, large bed that can easily accommodate two, and a couples shower in the bathroom. The bathroom also had heated floors and a warm towel rack. On the rear deck there was a 4-5 person hot tub with a tall privacy fence. The tub was a new model with numerous jets, led lights and various settings. A bonus for being situated in the middle of the Appalachian mountains, this cabin even included WiFi. When we first arrived at the cabin the owners had candles lit and had romantic music playing. Anytime we needed help they came over and assisted, which we found to be one of the greatest features of the stay. The Golden Anchor Restaurant is on location and has a great menu to choose from and very reasonable prices. There isn't much more you could ask for when choosing a place to stay in the Canaan Valley of WV. Once you have experienced the tranquility and the ability to get away from it all you will always want to come back.
