What a delight!

5 of 5
We stayed for a week in this lovely home. The photos and description don't do it justice. The rooms are beautifully furnished, the views are unbelievable, the neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. We have small children so we spent a lot of time in the backyard. There is a lovely vegetable garden, which is available to supplement meals. Every morning my daughter and I would pick calendula and mint for tea, and tomatoes and greens for our eggs. In the afternoons, we would go to kvi beach (kid and dog friendly), which is a 5 minute drive. We have family on the island, so we are do happy to have found this spot. We will definitely be returning. Thanks Cindy and Jim!

Tranquil, secluded, and thought-through getaway.

5 of 5
Dan's cottage near Vashon Island's Fern Cove estuary is a perfect place to drop totally (or just partially) off the grid, while traveling less than 10 miles from Seattle's city center. The steep, lengthy path from the road to the house sets the tone - it's an effort to get here, so why not stay for while - but once you take in the view of Colvos Passage during a summer sunset, you'll quit your whining and start unwinding. The house was in perfect order when I arrived and pre-trip communication with Dan was very thorough and speedy. All of the little things - cleaning supplies, bath towels, extra stocks of paper towels, toilet paper, and even a coffee French press - were well thought through and I didn't want for anything while there. He's also recently installed a cable modem, so you've got ridiculously fast wireless internet – if you want it. I didn't use the loft upstairs but it's a fun, cozy space and the master bed is super-comfortable. Even on the hottest summer days, the place cools off almost instantly once the sun is down - just crack a window or two. When the tide is out, walking the shore is a popular activity here, and if you bring a paddleboard or small water craft, the cove's waters are typically very calm. Lots of flowering plants. During my week stay, I had several regular hummingbird visitors hanging out on the guardrail wires on the deck. Herons, hawks, and a bald eagle or two completed the air show. I'd recommend without hesitation to anyone looking for an incredibly convenient escape from the city and who wants to explore the far out mystery that is Vashon Island from a sturdy, welcoming base.

Girls Weekend

5 of 5
We spent three night in this beautiful home on Vashon Island and it definitely was not enough. The home is very clean, well stocked and was comfortable and inviting. The owner is very nice to deal with. It is an easy Ferry ride from West Seattle which is close to the airport and downtown. We took the Ferry to Seattle and went to the Pike PLace Market one day and really enjoyed it but we had a hard time deciding to go as we hated to leave the house. We had a nice fire one night and two beautiful sunsets. It was also fun to walk on the beach and pick up shells and sand dollars. We will be back. This was our 7th annual family girls weekend. We had my 85 year old aunt down to my 35 year old daughter. Everyone was comfortable and had a great time. Larry, Thank You for opening your home so that we can enjoy such an amazing place. Diane and family
