an idyllic stay on the shores of Puget Sound

              5 of 5
The beach cottage on Butler's Cove was perfectly described in the listings. Deborah was incredibly helpful in getting our stay organized for a great start. Tucked into a cove just to the West of Olympia, the cottage was a perfect home for our 3 generation touring family while in Olympia. Proximity to Olympia downtown was ideal. In just a few minutes we were at the doors of the Hands On Olympia Museum. 2 year old Jasmine was enthralled and she could have spent our entire three days exploring this wonderful extended play space. At 5 pm when the Museum closed, downtown Olympia beckoned and the enjoyable restaurants, shops and art of the city made it a nice early evening or midday place to explore with Jasmine or a great evening place to go with one generation babysitting Jasmine at the cottage while another went into the city. Music a the Washington Center for the Arts was particularly enjoyed. The daytime also allowed for boating on Puget Sound. We chose the canoe which is kept in the garage and paddled out into the Sound on two occasions with Jasmine in the middle seat. Deborah was particularly helpful in making sure we had a life vest of the correct size for a two year old and by day two Jasmine was happily able to understand the ways to ride safely in a canoe. This was a great experience for us since this was her first time in a canoe and as avid canners it was great to have her adjust so well to this novel environment. Shopping is easy and convenient within a 5 to 8 minute drive from the cottage, whether we went to the local food coop which is a really great place to shop or on a later evening run to Safeway for some diapers. All in all it was great stay, and the experience of waking up in the morning with Puget Sound below you is one I strongly recommend.

Make any excuse to stay here

              5 of 5
Whether you have a reason to stay in Olympia or not, this house is worth a trip by itself. We just came home from a family gathering of 10 people and every single one of us ...from 65 to 17 ... was thrilled with the house. Everyone had their own private bedroom and bathroom (The bathrooms are fascinating. You have to go to understand), the dining room was big enough for all of us to sit at the table and , although the kitchen is a small for 4 or 5 "cooks", we all managed. We had the most fun of the entire trip during our hours long basement pool tournament ... be sure to check out the tunnel down there. This really is a great house and we are already planning our trip for next year. Thanks so much, Marisa and Jerri
