College reunion @ Hummingbird Hill Lodge

5 of 5
Spent a weekend catching up with old college friends at the Hummingbird Hill cabin in October and had an amazing time. There were 7 of us and we got there late on a Friday night weary from a long day of traveling. The second we stepped inside the cabin everyone's spirit was lifted because we were absolutely blown away by how amazing the interior was. Plenty of beds of all sizes, HUGE TV in the den, endless amount of DVDs, Blu-Rays, even HD-DVDs, spacious kitchen, the whole works. Oh yeah, there's also a hot tub! There's all kinds of seating around the deck which encircles the whole cabin, perfect for late night conversations about the great times in school, or for grabbing a cup of coffee in the morning to soak up the view. Speaking of, the view from the cabin in the morning is breathtaking. There's plenty of areas to go hiking nearby (~15mins), and Jim, the owner, was very kind in providing me with lots of information on activities. We saw some interesting wildlife during our stay including quail, a hawk or falcon perched on a nearby tree, and of course hummingbirds. Overall the stay was absolutely enjoyable and we were want for nothing. The kitchen came stocked with a lot of basics (coffee, filters, sugar, condiments, butter, incl. a massive amount of different hot sauces), and even some more substantial ingredients. Highly recommend the cabin to any type of group and would love to come back in the future. Thanks so much Jim for an amazing stay!

A comfortable cabin close to Mt. Rainier National Park

5 of 5
My husband and I rented the cabin for a week the first week of September. What a nice cabin! The beds were comfortable, the kitchen was nice and well stocked, and the washer and dryer kept our hiking clothes clean the whole time! The cabin was super clean, and the housekeeper had left a nice welcome note with tips on thermostats and deer feeding. The deer came by each morning and evening and were a lot of fun to watch. DeWain and Dovey were great to work with on the business end of this rental. Thanks for sharing your cabin with us this summer!

Very nice cottage

4 of 5
Overall very pleased with this cottage. It is conveniently located close to the entrance to Mt. Rainier NP and very close to the main part of town. The cabin was clean except for a few small spiders in the bathroom corners. The hot tub was nice, once my husband figured out how to raise the temp over 89 degrees (some instructions would be helpful). The fire pit was terrific. Beautiful to sit outside under the stars in the evening. It was also nice having a TV to watch some of the World Cup games. And our Sprint cell phones actually worked! The wireless internet worked great too. Our first evening we were greeted by 4 Elk which were grazing on the driveway. There was plenty of room in the cottage. Although there were a lot of beds, there is only 1 bathroom. Keep that in mind if you are traveling with lots of kids. I appreciated the Air Conditioner because it was quite warm the day we arrived. The kitchen was well stocked with dishes and equipment which were in good condition, but I would have appreciated a few more of those incidentals which are impractical to buy - such as paper towels, spray cleaner, condiments, tea bags etc. There were charcoal briquettes for the grill but there was no lighter fluid. I would definitely recommend this cottage. The owner was very easy to work with via email. Mt. Rainier NP is awesome and the drive from Packwood is lovely. Packwood is tiny. There isn't a whole lot there. Restaurant food is mostly limited to burgers and pizza and the supermarket is small with limited choices. The Butter Butte coffee shop was very nice though.
