Great Place to stay and Happy visit

5 of 5
The Smithsonian Vacation House was a perfect location for seeing the National Mall and sights, in addition to being close to two metro stations. L'Enfant Plaza station additionally has regular bus services to Dulles, so airport access to both airports is within an easy walk. Grocery store and drug store close by so the location was very convenient for my large extended family. The property manager was an excellent host and was always available on cell phone. He was very accommodating and helpful to our large family, half of whom had to leave a couple days early. House could be cleaner, but this is a minor concern. Kitchen was very clean and we used it a lot. I would definitely stay here again.

Clean and comfortable

4 of 5
My husband and I (both seniors 70+) took our 2 pre-teen grandchildren to Washington DC for a week. The apartment was just like the pictures - clean and comfortable. Granddaughter slept on the sofa and grandson slept on an air mattress. The kitchen was well stocked with utensils. However, the market is closed. If we had not had a friend there with a car, I don't know how we would have purchased groceries. The .4 mile walk to the metro is not an easy walk. Many turns and confusing intersections to cross. We enjoyed our stay there, but the ceiling in the bathroom is very low and the noise from upstairs is loud. I would recommend this property to short friends with ear plugs, but I don't know how to solve the grocery problem.
