Apartment Review

To help future visitors-when you first get to the property-there are parking spots around the corner off of Fairfax that are marked for future residents. We did not know and had some stress trying to figure out how to park and check in. My husband had to drive around until I could get the parking pass from the front desk. The unit was okay-not as luxe as the description suggests. The beds were comfortable. It was nice having a washer & dryer in the unit but they were older machines. There are no place mats or tablecloths for the table. Although, the unit says no pets-the building residents had quite a few dogs-in case someone is allergic-they ride in the elevators etc. We love dogs so no problem with us. We bought an extra parking pass for the three nights for our Navy son-he was called back to the ship after 1 night and we could not get a refund for the other two nights. There was no military discount either. The grocery store in the building was convenient but expensive-we used it anyway since we do not know the area and did not want to drive around too much. We used the club room (for pool) and the business center which was nice. The wifi did not always work in the unit. We did not swim in the pool but it looked nice. Since this was our first trip back East, we really did not know the area. If we come back we will probably stay at a Hotel- just to be able to get more information about the area and more flexibility with check in/out times. The concierge(s) was helpful. We were missing facial tissue and were not able to get any until after the weekend. The view was nice since we were in a higher floor. Starbucks was a couple of blocks away. Overall, the apartment worked for us. We were only there three nights and we had to drive to Newport News,VA one day so we did not get to enjoy the area as much as we would have liked.

Do not pass this up!

We're reluctant to share this review because we want to keep this place a secret! The accommodations were fabulous. Carla and Fred have thought of absolutely everything – from pleasing, clever décor to a well kitted-out kitchen, to lovely bed linens, fluffy towels and toiletries, a comfortable bed…even down to warm and friendly neighbors. Union Station, Capitol Hill, Eastern Market…all within easy walking distance. What isn’t walkable can be reached by convenient subway stops. Some restaurants are nearby, the little market suggested by Carla and Fred is terrific…really, look no further. I can't imagine staying any place else. This is our go to place.

perfect for our small family

5 of 5
Dad, Mom and two kids in our party. This rental worked out very well for us. From the moment we walked in it not only looked great and just like the photos but it also smelled clean and fresh. I was in town for a conference (location is convenient to the convention center by Metro) and brought the family along to explore DC. My wife felt comfortable walking with the kids to the Metro each day while I was working. It's about a five minute walk with a coffee shop and a few other things along the way (try Uprising Muffin Shop!!). We ended up taking the Metro two stops north the a very large Target grocery store to stock up. It was helpful to our budget eating dinners at home. In hind sight though, the neighborhood market just around the corner from the apartment has all of the things we would have needed and we could have done our shopping for dinners there. We just hadn't visited before we hit the Target. We didn't try many of the neighborhood restaurants but there sure are a lot of them to choose from. We spent every evening at home in the apartment and watched quite a few DVDs that we brought. We could tell there was someone staying in the unit above us but never had any issues or complaints to make about noise. I am a light sleeper and it has been a long time since I lived in an apartment but I was mentally prepared for the worst. I am happy that it was not a problem at all :) I would also like to note that we were very happy with the items the owners provided with the apartment (plenty of soap, shampoo, toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, dishsoap, coffee, sugar, creamer, tea bags, etc.etc.). We have been disappointed in past rentals to arrive and find out that there was only a "starter kit" provided and having to furnish all of these things yourself is a total pain. We would recommend this place to friends and if you read this far you should pick it too ;)
