Well stocked townhouse

5 of 5
This townhouse is nicely decorated and well stocked. So many extras that you might not expect such as Qtips and most everything you could possibly need in the way of hygiene. The kitchen is so well equipped right down to catsup, mustard, syrup, and even mayo. Every herb and spice is there as is laundry detergent. But what we really wouldn't have expected and really needed were umbrellas!!

Our Stay at the Smithsonian Vacation House ~ April 6-13, 2015

5 of 5
What a wonderful choice for our family vacation in DC! The house is in a spot that allows easy walking to the Smithsonian museums, Waterfront Metro and a well-stocked Safeway grocery store (which was great for picking up stuff for supper on the way home each day)! There's also an athletic field next door for our grandchildren to play kickball, and an elementary school playground around the corner. The neighborhood has a safe feel, and we walked the area confidently with our family of 12 (including 4 grandchildren from 6-13 yrs old). Being able to add the use of the downstairs apartment for the nights we had 12 instead of 10 people made it a perfect way to expand. The house itself is spacious and nicely appointed, with a well-equipped kitchen and lots of non-perishable staples left by previous guests who continue to "pay it forward". We took turns in the Jacuzzi tub after walking miles each day, and saved bundles by eating breakfast and dinner in our "home". Waverly was an excellent host, very responsive before and during our stay, bringing a brand new gas grill and supplying other small items we needed, as well answering our numerous questions with patience :) We strongly encourage you to stay here and enjoy the delightful combination of location and amenities!

Very pleased with our stay

5 of 5
We recently rented this house for 7 nights during our kids' (ages 14 & 16) March Break. We all loved the house. Being an end unit, it had windows on three sides - large, bright windows with stained glass accents. The decor was rich & eclectic, very welcoming. The bedrooms were spacious and comfortable. There is a freeway behind the house and we wondered if noise would be a problem. Once there, we were aware of the hum of traffic, but it was not bothersome. Deborah, the owner, was very timely in responding to our booking inquiries and was accessible by phone after we arrived and had a question. It was a ten minute walk to the Metro station, with many interesting restaurants along the way. It was a 20 minute walk to the capitol building. We would recommend this rental to others.
