Lovely Accommodations

5 of 5
This lovely little apartment was the perfect home base for our family during our visit to Washington D.C. Only 6 Metro stops from the Mall, we were really close to everything we wanted to see. Our host also gave us great restaurant and sight-seeing tips and even helped us with GroupOn. Our kids LOVED playing with the resident dog and cats as well (not allowed near our room). That was a life-saver for us. The apartment is clean and has all the amenities of home.

Great Base for Your Family to Explore D.C.

5 of 5
What a perfect home base for our family to explore Washington this spring! The Georgia-Petworth Metro Station was just 2 blocks away (it will take you no more than 15 minutes to travel down to all the attractions!) and the best part is that the apartment is DOWNHILL from the station, so at the end of a long day walking, it's easy to get back home! There's also a Safeway grocery store right around the corner. On our first night in town we stopped there and bought breakfast food and saved a pile eating in every morning, making eggs and biscuits and things in the little kitchen! The apartment was a great size for our family of four - our kids are 8 and 11. There's a nice room for mom and dad to sleep in, an alcove with a futon where the kids can sleep together or one can sleep there and the other on the pull out couch! In the evening, there was plenty of room for us all to stretch out and get some downtime after seeing the sights for hours. Two things to consider. 1) We are all average height folks, my husband is 5' 10, but I could see taller people being a little uncomfortable with the lower ceilings. 2) The parking space is tight! I have a Kia Sedona and it was a challenge parking it. Not complaining - I was thrilled to have a spot to keep it while we were in town - but if you have a big SUV it might not work for you! Rachel was a great host, the place was welcoming as soon as we walked in and her direction for finding the place as well as using the amenities inside were helpful and clear. Well, we tried to do it all on our little spring break but Washington is just so full of amazing things to do. Looks like we'll have to go back again and I would definitely stay in this place a second time!

Fantastic place for a holiday family reunion!

5 of 5
The house was perfect for our family reunion! Sandy was a gracious host who responded immediately to any questions and went out of her way to make sure our stay over Christmas was perfect. She even laid out holiday decorations for us since our group of 27 came from about 7 different states. Almost every room in the house included a private bathroom and flat screen tv which made it convenient for all the different families to have their space and privacy. The kitchen was equipped with plenty of cooking and baking utensils for us to easily plan our meals for such large groups. The main dining room area had a really long table for us and also included a few other tables and chairs so we could put everyone all together in one room for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day meals. There was a convenient bus stop right across the street which was about a 45 minute to hour ride to get to all the museums and monuments. Uber was also a very fast, cheap and super efficient mode of transportation for those of us that did not want to deal with public transportation. For the few people that drove, parking on the street right outside was beyond easy and safe (no permits required or time issues to be worried about). Not many negatives to list, if I had to list any I'd mention that it is a victorian house so it's pretty creaky and the walls are thin. With over 20 people in one house, it's pretty hard to expect anywhere to be nice and quiet though. There was one day we all planned to leave the house at the same time to make a group tour and a few of us didn't get the hottest of showers. Oh and for any tall individuals, the kitchen is in the basement part of the house and some of our guys had to be careful to duck to get to the refrigerator. I would easily recommend this house for anyone staying with a large group. Our family had a wonderful stay!!
