Comfortable & Picturesque Stone Cottage In Forest

5 of 5
We were in the area for work reasons, so regrettably our stay was short. The area is a picturesque, in the forest and with little cabins scattered around. Stone Ridge was quaint and comfortable and would make an great place to spend a few days relaxing. The place was clean, bed was excellent, and the kitchen had a good selection of utensils needed for "living it". This is a great place for those who love the mountains.

White Oak Cottage

4 of 5
Overall we had a very pleasant experience staying at White Oak Cottage. The location is very central with easy access to Old Rag Mountain and the White Oak Canyon trail, which was the most important factor for us. The cottage itself provides everything that is needed for a weekend trip, but it is very basic so I don't think it would be comfortable for a longer stay. If you plan to cook, bring your own spices, as only salt and pepper are provided. Guests should be prepared for a remote stay, meaning there isn't any cell phone reception whatsoever. Bill provides the house telephone number in advance, so be sure to give it to your family/friends if they need to reach you, as they won't be able to call you on your cell, nor will you be able to make any long-distance calls. Bring a tablet or laptop to access Wi-Fi. Also, be sure to print round-trip directions, as you won't get cell service to access your phone's GPS. Lastly, be sure to arrive during the daytime, as it gets pitch black at night and it is very, very scary to drive those narrow roads in the complete dark. Bill is an exceptional host and was so wonderful to interact with. He is extremely responsive to email and provided very helpful suggestions. I really enjoyed our interactions and would definitely recommend him as a host.

Great get away for family and friends!

4 of 5
Can't say enough about this nicely secluded lodge! It was a wonderful get away to bring your family and have a outstanding reconnecting time. Plenty of room, kids loved the stream to find fish and just explore. It was an extra special place to have family reunion photos taken. Can't wait to come again next year! The Wallingsfords 2014.
