                          Beautiful. Gorgeous scenery. Wonderfully kept.

I loved every moment of staying here. Valerie and her husband were the most gracious of hosts. There were little touches that really made me feel welcome. It was a dream to go to bed each night with the sound of horses beneath me and wake up to see them outside my window. I loved greeting them, and saying good morning to the dogs. The surrounding area is absolutely breathtaking - there are mountains wherever you look. The sky changes to the most glorious colors. I loved hiking - Valerie helped by suggesting Storybook trail which was much closer than the ones I was looking at. I went to "You Made It!" pottery studio where I painted my own pottery, I visited the Luray Caverns, I went tubing down a river, and visited the Lavender Farm. Some of my favorite moments, though, were the walks I took along the road just so that I could view the scenery and the animals, and the nights that I looked up at the stars. The apartment has everything you need and more - I felt so at home that I didn't want to leave. I hope to come back again as soon as I can. I cannot thank Valerie enogh for such a wonderful stay. Such gracious hospitality... she went beyond hospitality or "customer service." This is someone with a heart of gold and a pure, kind spirit. If you stay at Gabe's Getaway, you will not be disappointed.

A pretty, quiet place to relax

                          4 of 5
My wife and I enjoyed the beautiful location and the hosts were very nice. It was a good location to enjoy some of the area attractions and the hosts have compiled a great deal of information about things to do and places to go. The apartment itself was pretty clean (not spotless) and pretty well appointed as far as the kitchen was concerned (you could cook a simple meal there with ease). We agreed that it was a great place to stay but as we were celebrating our 10 wedding anniversary, we would have liked something that FELT more private. In other words, the hosts left us alone and went about their business normally and the apartment is separate from the rest of the house, but you still kind of knew they were around. Not in a snooping way...just there. Other positives: we LOVED hanging out in the sun room (the views were very charming), the road the property is on is off the beaten path, so there was very little street noise and there is a pond that is stocked with fish and a rowboat (we didn't make it out there, unfortunately, but it is a short walk). We really enjoyed visiting Staunton and Lexington. We had some nice walks and meals (Lexington even has decent sushi, which is pretty good for a town that small). The country around there is just beautiful and it is very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Overall, a good experience, just maybe not the perfect fit for a couple on their second "honeymoon". I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this place to someone else. Well worth the price!

                          Very nice rental!

We found the accommodations in Hot Springs to be comfortable, clean and convenient; We had plans at Garth Newell Music Center for New Years Eve and New Years Day. It was very cold and windy outside but we were warm and toasty inside. Next time we hope to get another couple to join us as the accomodations provide 2 nice Bedrooms.
