Beautiful home away from home!!!

5 of 5
The Crows Nest is a beautiful home away from home. We were visiting JMU for Homecoming weekend and decided we would take advantage of some extra time with our college kids as well. The Crows Nest met all of our needs - room for everyone, a beautiful location (and view), nice amenities and just a great place to share in some family time. It was very clean and comfortable. The owner was a joy to work with and very responsive to all the questions we had! We will certainly recommend the Crows Nest to our friends and hope to return!

An Unbelievable Quiet Getaway

5 of 5
We were just married and wanted a quiet, relaxing, romantic getaway. When we arrived Erik had already set out a bottle of sparkling cider and some pumpkin bread with a big CONGRATS!! We were sooo impressed by the hospitality and we both were so happy we were there!! We started walking around inside thinking this is too good to be true..... As we walked around we noticed that it was very old fashioned but in excellent condition! There was a record player that looked like it was from the 70's with a cassette deck and a whole bunch of records in a crate underneath!! Loved that.... Brought back so many memories!! Then ,we checked out the bedrooms. The master bedroom had a flat screen. The other bedroom we didnt stay in but it was nice also. The living room had a nice vibrating message type two seat combo and worked well... We laughed about the message chairs like if we used them we wouldnt move to do anything else...lol... The living room also had a log gas fireplace... Very pretty and warmed up the entire cabin very quickly and looked cool at night!! Cabin also has central air and heat! Living room also has a tv with dvd player and a cd stereo. There are dvd's in a drawer underneath. The kitchen was fully stocked with everything you needed except whatever you were going to eat. But, there was all utensils ,pots and pans,DISHES!!, PAPER PLATES, matches , lighters, paper towels, dish soap, cleaning supplies, all condiments in the fridge....ALL OF THEM! WE LOVED IT!! Everything was clean and we left it that way!! Theres a gas grille and a small charcoal grille with charcoal and lighter fluid!! Porch has a huge area with a couple of nice rustic wooden porch chair rockers, very pretty , and a porch swing which we used in the daytime too look at the HUGE FRONT YARD!! Behind the cabin was a really nice sized fire pit and a bench to sit on with a stack of firewood already cut. There;s NO CELL SERVICE so if you are looking to make phone calls or internet on your phone forget it. We didnt get any messages sometimes for hours. We would be sitting in the living room then all of a sudden the message would make it hours later!! There is a land line phone for local calls and if you need to call long distance get a calling card or have them call you there!! No big deal for us because we wanted seclusion anyway!! The towns people were very friendly and the brookside restaurant was a nice place to eat. Go to harrisonburg for golden corral!! Thank you Erik! We will be back!!!!!
