Wonderful Private Getaway

5 of 5
We had a wonderful time. The place is neat and clean. The kitchen was well stocked for cooking. All of the furniture was in great shape. We spent about 75% of our time on the front porch in the rocking chairs just enjoying the quiet. The people who own and rent out this cabin clearly care about every detail. We went into Luray once to get some supplies, but that was the only time we got into the car. We took long walks, we slept late in the extremely comfortable bed, we read, we talked, we drank Margaritas. We saw a rafter of turkeys, we saw the biggest doe either of us have ever seen and a very large black bear sauntered across the back yard early one morning. When we left to go home after 4 too short days, we were completely relaxed. If the rest of the place was horrible, it would be worth it just for the rocking chairs on the front porch, but the place was fantastic, We will definitely be back. We think we'll go back in the winter so we can have a nice fire in the fireplace. If you're looking for a romantic, getaway weekend, look no further. You just found it. Thank you, Amy.

Absolutely Gorgeous Cabin in a Beautiful Area!

5 of 5
We stayed in this absolutely gorgeous cabin for our family vacation adventure and it was perfect! The cabin is like new, just beautiful and the smell of fresh cut pine permeates throughout. There was plenty of room for our family of five-my wife and I in the master bedroom, our 7 and 11 yr old each had a room and my teenager on the couch. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for any type of cooking. The property is quiet and off the main road which made it feel more adventurous. We saw deer and rabbit during our stay (right in the yard!) My wife and I loved the front porch for coffee and quiet in the morning and the whole family had dinner in the screened porch area every night- (none of the bugs and all of the beauty!) Grilling in the evening as the sun changed the colors of the forest was awesome and the fire-pit provided for campfire stories and s’mores. The hot tub was a favorite for the whole family after our daily adventures. Did I mention close to adventure? The cabin is literally a five-minute drive from the entrance to Shenandoah National Park's Skyline Drive where breathtaking mountain drives and hikes abound. We saw black bear and deer every time out! You are also located about ten minutes drive from Luray Caverns which is a definite don't miss! We also went swimming in Lake Arrowhead (5min drive) river-rafting (25min away) and horseback riding in Stanley (about 30min drive). Also, I should mention how the washer and dryer made post-adventure cleanup a snap. The owners were friendly and courteous; calling on the phone the first day to ensure we had everything we needed and the maintenance man Pete was a pleasure to meet and talk with and was a veritable wealth of local knowledge. Never were we encroached upon during our stay. It felt as if it was our own cabin secluded from society but it was nice to know they were there if needed anything. As a romantic getaway for a few couples or as a family adventure base like ours, I cannot more strongly recommend A Buck's View. It was absolutely perfect and we all want to come back again as soon as possible. Are there any openings this fall Mr. Ey? Thanks again for sharing your wonderful mountain home with us.

Would stay again

5 of 5
My husband, dogs and I had a great time! There was plenty of room for the dogs to run around and play in the yard. The deck was really nice. Husband even slept outside one night. Even though we were in the midst of summer , it wasn't buggy which is nice too. The kitchen had plenty of utensils/cookware even though we brought our own. The beds were comfortable and the cabin was not spotless but pretty clean. The bathrooms were plenty clean enough for me, so that was a bonus. Based on the pictures it definitely seems that the owner has made a few upgrades too. I definitely appreciated the all in one price too, it was very convenient not having to figure out well how much extra if someone else comes or with the dogs etc.etc. Bottom Line: The husband and I have stayed in a dozen cabins in the WV, VA area. We have paid a lot more and gotten a lot less then this. If you aren't looking for perfection but are looking to save a bit of money - you won't do better then this cabin - which is why I gave it 5 stars. TIPS:The upstairs shower has way better water pressure. Upstairs tends to get quite stuffy if it is above 95.0, so keep that in mind if you are coming with a larger party. Downstairs was plenty cool.
