THIS HOME IS EVERY BIT OF DESCRIPTION AND MORE!

5 of 5
My two sisters and I take a vacation together every year, this is our 29th year. This year we waited a little longer to make a reservation, our plans were to visit northern Virginia, and we couldn't find a reasonable home to rent in that area. So I started looking further south and found the perfect location. We have stayed in several different types of rentals; homes, cottages, condos, cabins, bed & breakfasts and even motel efficiencies. This lovely home is at the top of our list! All the amenities and then some, nothing was lacking nor missing. The rooms are all very open, light and uncluttered. The yard is welcoming to stroll about. The sun porch is wonderful to sit over morning coffee and watch the birds. We love to try new recipes on each other and the kitchen is well equipped for any cooking needs. This home sits in a lovely country setting and you feel secluded from the hectic traffic of Fredericksburg and I95 when actually you are only about 10 minutes from grocery stores and several shopping areas along Route 1. Unfortunately I had an allergic reaction and needed to visit the emergency room and this too is only 10 minutes away and I was seen immediately. I would recommend this lovely home to anyone looking for a beautiful country setting in which to relax and enjoy the lovely surrounding countryside and still be minutes away from great shopping and wonderful restaurants along with many historical sights to visit in the Fredericksburg area. The owners are a lovely couple who we met and greatly enjoyed talking with. When you arrive there are fresh cookies waiting for you, you feel like your visiting old friends!

THIS COTTAGE HUGS YOU

5 of 5
My husband and I consider Blue Bird cottage a "Home away from Home". It is decorated with heart and soul to give a feeling of peace and comfort that we all want while on vacation. As Americans living in The Netherlands, we visit annually to check on our retirement property located in near the cottage. During our first stay, Eddie and his partner Thelma, welcomed us into their home and hearts; we are blessed to say that our first friends in VA are truly awesome. Just a few side notes: I am a runner thus must say for FYI to other runners: the area is flat, fast and easy to do a quick morning run. An out/back from the cottage w/o traffic is 4 miles, using small side roads off the "out/back" can give another mile. If coming to this area for the first time I recommend reading "Off 13" by Kirk Mariner. Eddie introduced us to this book, we had to buy a copy for future use. We did "take out" from "Little Italy" in Nassawadox. Missed having good pizza (not a Dutch thing), "Little Italy" filled us up with good, cheesy, crusty slices.

GREAT GETAWAY

5 of 5
My husband and I have rented over a dozen private vacation rentals over the past 10 years and we would rate the cottage as among the best. Clean, comfortable set-up. No nonsense owner, no hidden fees, & no elaborate (burdensome) check-out procedures. This allowed us to focus on our stay and enjoy this great getaway with our family. We stayed here with our three sons, ages 4, 2, and 1 month. The boys loved the miniature horses, walking down to the pond and exploring, and the tree house! The gas grill was a little fussy, but we were able to get it working after a few tries. Perfect getaway for DC folks wanting to a break. Beautiful drive!
