Great location at a good price.

4 of 5
My friends and I had a good time and the price was good. We were very conveniently located close to the beach and a number of restaurants, bars, grocery stores, etc... The mattress was a little stiff but otherwise I had no issues. I'd certainly stay there again though.

enjoyable weekend

5 of 5
We very much enjoyed our stay at this rental. The owner, Tom, is very personable and accessible and met us as soon as we arrived. His house is across the driveway from the rental, but he does not intrude on your privacy at all. The accommodations were clean and more than sufficient. Beds were very comfy. Bedroom and bathroom on the lower floor are accessible via inside steps and also from outside. Lots of sleeping and sitting options upstairs, along with a nice kitchen and bathroom upstairs. Lovely little deck, and also a covered car-port. No a/c, but I doubt you would want it often - lots of windows and ceiling fans provide ample air circulation. The views are wonderful. Our "host" cat accompanied us on our walks up the mountain, and down the driveway (multiple times) - we are sure he is part sheepdog. We enjoyed a no-mosquitos weekend, the many birds at Tom's many feeders and bird-houses, deer, a wondering raccoon, a surreal display of lightening bugs, and great star-gazing. We even had a bonus wheel-wash, courtesy of the very small ford one needs to cross at the bottom of the driveway. The small town of Monterrey has some cute shops and very friendly people. We enjoyed driving around the area - Tom has suggestions for some scenic tours. We were very pleased with our weekend away.

Very nice, secluded little cottage

5 of 5
We had a lovely few days at the getaway cottage. It appears to be no more than a few years old, well maintained and everything you need is there, be it pots and pans, towels, grill, etc. The only thing missing was soap and shampoo, but we were prepared. A word of caution though, as hinted in some other reviews. You will drive 1.25 miles on a poor, gravel road that is incredibly steep in two areas. We had no problem with it, but it is slow going to avoid the potholes and the car did get quite dirty after a rain. If you have a fancy low-slung sports car, you may want to reconsider your mode of transportation. One other note: it really is in the boonies. Don't trust your nav system, use the directions from the owners!
