Great place to start and end each day

5 of 5
The TLC that has been shown to this lovely historic home is evident. While this home takes you back in time, great care has been taken to give you all of the modern amenities. And the owners have managed to do this while still maintaining the integrity of the house. The home and grounds are as beautiful as the photos depict. What the photos don't show is the spaciousness of each room, the comfort of all the furniture and beds and the care Misty and Dan take to make your stay pleasant. Bud, the elderly four-legged greeter, adds that friendly, welcome home, touch. The house is an easy 20 minute commute to Charlottesville restaurants, Moticello, UVA and shopping. Wineries are even closer. The Pippin Hill Winery just 2 miles down the road offers a nice lunch and wonderful views. Dr. Ho's Humble Pie also makes a pretty good lasagna. We were here for a week and couldn't have been happier with our choice. You won't be disappointed.

Home away from home

A brief mention that my wife was gluten, egg and dair free, led Chris to cook several wonderful dishes. Jon and Chris went out of their way to recommend local restaurants, the Bears Den Overlook, Purcelville places to visit, etc. Walking around their Black Walnut orchard and along the creek, and jumping on the trampoline was great fun for our girls.

A relaxing quiet retreat

4 of 5
We had a large group stay for an wine tasting weekend (14 of us total). The house was excellent as the sleeping quarters are away from most of the common areas, making it easy for anyone to stay up late or get up early without bothering the rest of the house. The grounds were beautiful, we only wish it had been warmer outside. The house is pet friendly and the screened in porch was a great place for the puppies to play away from all of the horses. The 3 bedrooms with queen beds were extremely comfortable and very large, and the bunk room was great for all of the singles who stayed the weekend. The hot tub and outdoor activities that were accessible with the weather were great. The only small problem we had was the house wasn't spotless in terms of cleanliness. It was generally clean, but for a couple of clean freaks we had, we did some additional cleaning when we got there. I would definitely recommend staying here, and I would certainly return for another trip.
