Fierflies

5 of 5
This was an absolutely amazing trip, you can literally feel the stress role off your shoulders as you proceed to fireflies. It's surrounded by beautiful uncommercialized farmland. The cabin sits on a gorgeous rolling hill 200 feet from the river bank. The sky is amazing at night my children and I counted many so many shooting stars. I've never seen the sky so beautiful as it was at fireflies , it seems as if your so close. Fireflies is pet friendly so we were able to take a very important part of our family with us and that made this weekend that much more special, they made endless trips up the roiling hills beside the cabin and down to the river. The cabin itself was beautiful. Everything was modern upscale and even had heated flooring , the kids enjoyed the jacuzzi bathtub. It was really nice to have cookware and quality dishes right there at the cabin, even though we were away it had the comfort of home in that aspect, it allowed us to maximize our time at the cabin. The river was beautiful so much wildlife, the water look clean and it was very quite. Sorry this review is so long but it's rare for us that you pay your hard earned money to visit a place that you see advertised and your exspectations are met. You can tell that the owners truly wanted to do more than create profit, it's my opinion that they wanted to share what they saw when they first came to this beautiful place. In closing I will say to the owners well done. Fireflies is defiantly first class . since the visit I have told numerous friends and we are scheduling trips for both sets of parents, and we will be returning in the summer. Thanks again for sharing

Going for the three-peat!

5 of 5
We've stayed twice and are looking to book our third trip. Yes, they aren't "connected" - but isn't that what a get away or a vacation is all about? It has been refreshing to know that when we arrive we don't have to deal with any distractions. The cabin is awesome, the amenities are outstanding, and we've had nothing but fun when we have stayed at The Buck's View. We keep telling ourselves that we are going to get out and do something when we get there, but it's so relaxing we just don't leave (except for the occasional run to Wal Mart for food). Love it here!!!!

Stunning views with all comforts of home

5 of 5
This was our family's (4) second visit, and while we love finding new places, it's impossible not to return here again as it meets every desire. First off, the Shenendoah views from the bluff are glorious and the river access (via wooden steps and a lower deck) is perfect. If it weren't freezing, we'd take full advantage of the kayaks and fishing from the private dock. Nothing more relaxing than sitting in the hot tub or either well appointed deck (upstairs and down) and soaking in the scenery. The house layout is simple and efficient and would easily accomdate two families of four. Furnishings are modern and comfortable and the gas fireplace is easy to use and provides great heat. The beds are comfortable and linens excellent. While natural entertainment is great (firepit wonderful, though best to gather wood in daylight), wifi and two large screen TVs with cable go a long way to making everyone happy. The kitchen is well-equipped (will make use of blender next time) and 24-hour Walmart ten minutes away means any groceries or supplies you forget are well within reach. There's a charcoal grill as well. Situated just off Interstate 66, the cabin is just about a 75 minute drive from Washington, DC. Close to Front Royal and Winchester, you can find restaurants, shopping and activities within a short drive, including northern entrance to Skyline Drive and Skyline Cavern. The property manager has always been responsive and helpful, though as things go so smoothly, rarely interaction beyond initial. All in all, a fantastic getaway for the whole family and highly recommended.
