Comfy and Perfect for our needs.

5 of 5
I stayed here with a large group of high schoolers as part of a getaway. We truly enjoyed our stay. The owner was accommodating and made himself available to meet our needs. Our students enjoyed taking walks in the beautiful setting, and spending time with the horses and cows was a highlight. The kitchens are truly very well stocked and having two of them made it easy to prepare meals for the entire large group. The dining room was large enough to assemble as a group, while the dens made it cozy to break out into rounds of poker or board games in the evening. The building has a unique layout. The beds were also very comfortable and the sleeping arrangements worked out well. The servant's cottage is a stone's throw away, so while you have the house all to yourself, expect to share the fire pit and hot tub if both units are being rented out. Overall we enjoyed our stay and would recommend that you book!

A Perfect Christmas at Granny's

5 of 5
My family just spent our Christmas vacation at Granny’s. We arrived late Christmas Day and were pleasantly surprised to find a fully decorated Christmas tree, candles in the windows and decorations throughout the house. After everyone had unpacked and settled in, we opened presents under the Christmas tree. It was a wonderful ending to our Christmas Day. The rest of our visit was just as magical. The house is charming and inviting. All the rooms were clean and ready for our stay. The kitchen was well appointed and the perfect place for meals and family gatherings. We served an almost endless supply of homemade cookies, tea and coffee at that table! The house is seated on top of a gentle hill with a paved driveway and plenty of space for parking. While Granny’s is peaceful and has a beautiful pastoral view from the front porch, it is conveniently located with a small grocery nearby and Galax just a few minutes away. The owner has created a handy reference notebook containing brochures on local events and information on the City of Galax and areas nearby. This lovely home is perfect as a family retreat and as a home base for enjoying the many attractions located close by. Days to Remember at Granny’s would be a lovely place to stay any time of the year.

Excellent vacation rental for large families!

5 of 5
We booked this property for a short vacation during labor day. There were 8 of us from 3 separate families and I think each and every one of us was blow away by the house! The pictures do not do the interior of the home justice. Each bedroom is spacious, with beautiful wood dressers and comfortable large beds (queen sized for most, king in the master). You get wonderful views of the mountains in each of the rooms as well, though we barely spent any time in the rooms. Considering each room is equipped with a rather large flat screen TV, it's amazing that everyone loved the outdoor spaces so much they didn't even want to watch anything. We are a family of TV lovers and I think the TV was on maybe 15 minutes the entire weekend. There is a nice dining and living room, as well as a very spacious and functional kitchen. While there are not groceries or spices, the kitchen has all the pots/pans/utensils you could want. The outdoor space made the house spectacular! There is a large porch in the front with rocking chairs that was lovely in the morning and evening. The back has a large stone patio with ample seating and a BBQ. The hot tub was fantastic, once we figured out how it worked! We spent 90% of our time lounging outside, talking and just enjoying the breeze. The view is very beautiful, though there are some power lines and some cars that pass by. The indoor game room is a real treat! We spent our evenings there, playing pool and ping pong. As others have mentioned, there is an air hockey table but it has weak-ish air flow. As for the entertainment around the town, there is a river adventure tour within 5 minutes of the house that we used to go tubing. Within 20 minutes are also several wineries. Shenandoah Park is about 40 minutes away. All-in-all, this was a wonderful vacation property. We got to spend time as a family without being on top of each other. I highly recommend this property.
