Great place

5 of 5
Really enjoyed our visit to the farm. Grounds are beautiful, and the owners really worked with us to make check in easy and answer all of my annoying questions about the property. A group of 30somethings celebrated a birthday here. Easy to trek out to wineries, and the fire pits were terrific for gathering after dinners. There isn't a big tv room or large space beyond the dining room to gather, if you're a family with kids parking in front of the TV, but we really enjoyed spending all our time in the house in the kitchen, dining room, and outside. Having so much space outdoors was absolutely terrific. You're in the country, but with all the conveniences very near by. Really enjoyed being here, and will likely return! Hosts were so easy to deal with. Thanks!

Excellent vacation rental for large families!

5 of 5
We booked this property for a short vacation during labor day. There were 8 of us from 3 separate families and I think each and every one of us was blow away by the house! The pictures do not do the interior of the home justice. Each bedroom is spacious, with beautiful wood dressers and comfortable large beds (queen sized for most, king in the master). You get wonderful views of the mountains in each of the rooms as well, though we barely spent any time in the rooms. Considering each room is equipped with a rather large flat screen TV, it's amazing that everyone loved the outdoor spaces so much they didn't even want to watch anything. We are a family of TV lovers and I think the TV was on maybe 15 minutes the entire weekend. There is a nice dining and living room, as well as a very spacious and functional kitchen. While there are not groceries or spices, the kitchen has all the pots/pans/utensils you could want. The outdoor space made the house spectacular! There is a large porch in the front with rocking chairs that was lovely in the morning and evening. The back has a large stone patio with ample seating and a BBQ. The hot tub was fantastic, once we figured out how it worked! We spent 90% of our time lounging outside, talking and just enjoying the breeze. The view is very beautiful, though there are some power lines and some cars that pass by. The indoor game room is a real treat! We spent our evenings there, playing pool and ping pong. As others have mentioned, there is an air hockey table but it has weak-ish air flow. As for the entertainment around the town, there is a river adventure tour within 5 minutes of the house that we used to go tubing. Within 20 minutes are also several wineries. Shenandoah Park is about 40 minutes away. All-in-all, this was a wonderful vacation property. We got to spend time as a family without being on top of each other. I highly recommend this property.

Great location for any of Galax's festivals...or for a trip to a simpler day and time!

5 of 5
A group of travel to BBQ competitions, so each year we travel to Galax for the Virginia State Championship BBQ, and it makes more sense for us to rent a house rather than multiple hotel rooms. Granny's was the perfect location with a stunningly gorgeous view! Less than 5 minute drive to downtown...and yet, you feel like you are in the country at Granny's. Purely because of our schedule at competitions, we really aren't at where ever we stay that much but when we were, linens and towels were readily available. The kitchen has every appliance you could possibly need on a vacation. The house itself is large with plenty of room to spread out. On cooler days and evenings, hanging out in the sunroom or on the large front porch would be ideal. And the owner has taken the time to make a scrapbook filled with area attractions and a little bit of history about the area. Additionally, she has gathered up menus from some local restaurants to help make dining out in an unfamiliar area much easier. She has thought of everything! Comfort and convenience at a reasonable price and in a wonderful location!
