Absolutely Gorgeous Cabin in a Beautiful Area!

                        5 of 5
We stayed in this absolutely gorgeous cabin for our family vacation adventure and it was perfect! The cabin is like new, just beautiful and the smell of fresh cut pine permeates throughout. There was plenty of room for our family of five-my wife and I in the master bedroom, our 7 and 11 yr old each had a room and my teenager on the couch. The kitchen is well equipped with everything you need for any type of cooking. The property is quiet and off the main road which made it feel more adventurous. We saw deer and rabbit during our stay (right in the yard!) My wife and I loved the front porch for coffee and quiet in the morning and the whole family had dinner in the screened porch area every night- (none of the bugs and all of the beauty!) Grilling in the evening as the sun changed the colors of the forest was awesome and the fire-pit provided for campfire stories and s’mores. The hot tub was a favorite for the whole family after our daily adventures. Did I mention close to adventure? The cabin is literally a five-minute drive from the entrance to Shenandoah National Park's Skyline Drive where breathtaking mountain drives and hikes abound. We saw black bear and deer every time out! You are also located about ten minutes drive from Luray Caverns which is a definite don't miss! We also went swimming in Lake Arrowhead (5min drive) river-rafting (25min away) and horseback riding in Stanley (about 30min drive). Also, I should mention how the washer and dryer made post-adventure cleanup a snap. The owners were friendly and courteous; calling on the phone the first day to ensure we had everything we needed and the maintenance man Pete was a pleasure to meet and talk with and was a veritable wealth of local knowledge. Never were we encroached upon during our stay. It felt as if it was our own cabin secluded from society but it was nice to know they were there if needed anything. As a romantic getaway for a few couples or as a family adventure base like ours, I cannot more strongly recommend A Buck's View. It was absolutely perfect and we all want to come back again as soon as possible. Are there any openings this fall Mr. Ey? Thanks again for sharing your wonderful mountain home with us.

Clean, convenient, quiet, relaxing, good value

                        5 of 5
Our main reason for coming to Luray was the convenience to the Thornton Gap access to Skyline drive and hiking in SNP; we found this property last year and loved it so much we returned again this year. The upgraded living room and new central air conditioning were surprise bonuses on our return, but luckily we didn't need the AC during our June week (except to cure a little stuffiness from being closed up during the daytime when we were gone). Basically we were up and out by 9;30 every morning for hiking or kayaking on the river, and then back by 4:00 for dinner and nighttime fire in the fire pit. We had brought our own croquet and bocci and played them on the lawn. A big plus is the amount of porch space with roof overhang, meaning that if its raining you can stay outside much of the time and play games on the picnic table. We found nothing lacking and as such I've never spoken with or met the owner, except as part of the Homeaway booking process. I would certainly consider another return if we decide to come back to Skyline for another year of hiking.
