My wife and I stayed at Barred Owl with our young son and enjoyed every minute of our visit. Barred Owl is one of three cabins on a hillside, with the other two located below. They're off of a shared driveway, but still far enough apart that each feels remote.
These cabins are brand new and in beautiful condition. Everything was perfect -- from the firepit and grill out back, to the hit run in the porch, to the appliances and furnishings inside. Best of all, it's nestled away in the countryside, yet provides easy access both to downtown Luray and the Shenandoah National Park. We took full advantage, hiking during the day, and enjoying the quiet of our wooded cabin in the evenings. Oh, and there are several good wineries in the area too! Gadino Cellars and Rappahannock we're two of our favorites.
In short, it's a great getaway from the hustle and bustle of DC. We'll be back!
