A Beautiful and Unforgettable Getaway

5 of 5
This is most definitely towards the end of the road less traveled... And to me, that was a selling point! The pictures almost do the place justice - but you just have to be there to truly enjoy the clean, crisp air, the subtle sounds of nature all around, and the unmistakable feeling of really being "away from it all." The guest house is very nicely appointed, and well maintained - as are all of the grounds, which given the size and scope of the place, is quite impressive. The owners were very friendly, even checking in with us and trying to help resolve a minor problem with the satellite TV reception. I would certainly recommend this to any friends or relatives looking for a nice getaway from the every day. (But the TV and Wi-Fi are still there if you don't want to be totally unplugged.) We stocked up on food at the Food Lion in Luray on the way in, so we didn't have to leave at all after we arrived. The kitchen had everything you could possibly want to cook with, and the Weber grill was fantastic. The hot tub was just right for relaxation, and some great star gazing. We also took advantage of the fire pit down by the river. That made for a really nice final evening. All in all, it's a great place. We very much look forward to going back!

Absolutely Wonderful!!!!

5 of 5
From the moment we got out of our car we felt welcomed. Such a beautiful location and cottage. The owner Shar, helped make this location special, like coming home and seeing family. She made you know that she was around if you needed her, but never intrusive. Just a really wonderful lady. The house was storybook perfect, not the usual left over decor, you could tell that she decorated the home with care to make it welcoming. We had everything we needed to be comfortable and relaxed. She even had a apple cake type desert waiting for us when we got there. The kitchen has everything you need, an awesome bathroom and two bedrooms. I loved the breakfast nook she had just put in and the porch was my favorite place. It was close to everything and Shar was great on giving us ideas of places to go and eat. We definitely want to go back again and would recommend to our closest friends!! Such a great place with a wonderful owner.

Perfect Fall Holiday Spot

5 of 5
My husband & I just spent 4 wonderful days at the Knotty Pine along with two of my brothers and their wives. Four of us came up from FL and wanted a place where we could enjoy "Fall". The cottage was everything we could have asked for and more...beautiful views, quiet location, comfortable beds, very well equipped with everything you could need, clean and well maintained. The deck was awesome; loved the swing, hot tub, and mountain views. We ate in for breakfast and dinner...and the husband chefs produced delicious meals from the kitchen which lacked for nothing. We enjoyed hiking down to the river and other excursions which took us to small towns, a winery, and Skyline Drive. Their is much to do within very easy driving distance from the cottage. In addition to how great the cottage was, the owner, Madge, was so helpful and accommodating. It was a pleasure working with her. She was always quickly responsive and helpful. Everything about our stay was wonderful. It was a joy to see the Fall colors and the weather was beautiful. I'd love to think we'll be back some day! Patty
