Great getaway for the family!

4 of 5
We stayed here with kids and grandkids for a weekend getaway and it was great! In spite of chilly weather the view was awesome and we certainly enjoyed all the little "extras" left for us. Fireplaces already laid out with wood, popcorn ready to pop and a great bottle of wine to share. What more could you ask for? Thank you so much Catherine for working with us on the date and helping provide a relaxing time for all.

Perfect Anniversary Getaway

5 of 5
We spent a long weekend out here and wish we booked for more time! It was such a relaxing getaway! We were looking for a pet-friendly vacation home to stay in to celebrate 15 years of marriage with the entire family. Penelope provided helpful instructions on getting here. We were welcomed with a warm fire roaring in the Franklin stove as we entered the house. We were so happy and relieved to find a high-quality home to stay in for the next few days. The furniture and décor was impressive! The dining table truly brought out the home's rustic charm. It was rainy on the day we arrived but we were still captivated by the window views that can be seen looking towards the water. The weather was perfect the next few days. This was the best time to be out in the woods! It wasn't too cold but crisp enough to keep the summer bugs away (no mosquito bites!). Our two boys never wanted to go inside! It was a nice change to see them play outside instead of inside playing video games or watching TV. We got to fish and canoe in the river. The water was so still and calm! We were able to see the bottom of the river at the dock and dug up giant oysters in the bed. The fall leaves were beautiful at this time of year. We shot our family portraits out here with the dock and the autumn leaves as our backdrop. Thanks for sharing your home with us. The whole family (including the dogs!) had a wonderful, relaxing time! We look forward to visiting again! :)

Tops in Charming Historical Comfort

5 of 5
We went to sight-see in the Northern Neck area and Lynhams was an amazing surprise! I've stayed in Williamsburg's Colonial Village and those cottages are replicas of this place--right down to the doors and configuration. It sits amidst modern homes on a golf course but that didn't diminish the thrill of staying in a historical treasure--with cable TV to boot! Nearby, you can visit the upscale Tides Inn, tour Christ Church, and poke around quaint little towns. Be sure to eat at Irvington's Trick Dog Cafe.
