Recent Lake Anna Reviews

Spacious, clean and perfect for all group sizes!

5 of 5
The description and location were very accurate -- but I will say the house is A LOT larger than we had expected which was a pleasant surprise! The property and house itself was very clean; no bugs, odors or dirt anywhere unlike other listings we looked at. The property management team was a pleasure to deal with as well - they responded instantly to any questions we had about the property, and accommodated our later-than-expected arrival on Friday with no hassle whatsoever. The house was spacious enough, and plenty of beds for everyone, and the yard was huge enough for dogs and people alike to enjoy in the nice weather! We spent so much time at the house and swimming in the lake that we didn't even have time to check out Lake Anna Winery nearby, which I hear has great ratings (FYI for anyone planning on doing activities in the area.) This property is on the private side so the lake was a steady 85 degrees, and the house had plenty of floating devices to hang out in the water. It was a weekend filled with grilling, swimming, kayaking, backyard games and reunions -- the neighbors are nice as well! Make sure you check out the sunsets by the dock, they are absolutely breathtaking. A great experience with plenty of memories made -- highly recommend to anyone and I hope we can come back again next year!

Amazing Property

5 of 5
In my 25 years of renting summer houses I have never considering renting a house again the following summer until I our stay at Promise Point - Promise Point blew me over and is the only house I would ever rent at Lake Anna. It has everything you could want for a wonderful family vacation. It is especially good for families with little ones as it has gates on all the stairs and the beach has a wonderful shallow area. It also is great for senior as they provide steps to go into the lake - much easier on old knees. The water slide is beyond amazing - everyone from grandpa to toddler loved it. And the new play set is just icing on the cake. The fire pit is a real fire pit and a big hit with everyone. It is deep enough that you don't have to worry about burning the place down. I have been disappointed in every kitchen in houses I have rented but not Promise Point - was a joy to cook for my family there.

Really deserves a 4.5

4 of 5
The photos do it justice - it is a huge house on a level lot with lots of waterfront and a huge boathouse. The water was super warm when we were there in early July. It is 6-8' deep off the dock so you can jump in and swim a long way. It is across from the power plant but what you see instead are 2 wooded islands. It is on a private cove behind those islands and well off the main lake. While you still hear the drone of engines, it is probably as quiet and peaceful as you will find on the lake. The caretaker was great and very responsive and the inside of the house was very clean. There are 4 kayaks and it is easy to take them out, and they provide all kinds of fun water toys, floats, noodles, etc. There is foosball, mini-basketball, a few board games, 2 boxes of wooden train tracks and dog bowls inside the house. Now for what I didn't like - I was also looking at this property at rentlka.com where it states it has a sandy beach. The waterfront is completely covered by a boardwalk/bulkhead and the lake bottom is hard rock that is painful to walk on without water shoes. There is a 10'x10' sandy area that is nicely shaded but it is really is just a sandbox. Neither website gives a lot of info about the layout of the house. The top level of the house has 1 master suite, kitchen and living room. So make sure that you aren't alone when you return from the grocery store since you'll be carrying those bags up 3 flights of stairs. The Food Lion is about 15 min away but there are very few options for other food, carryout, or restaurants. So you'll be cooking a lot. The grill is big but the kitchen could be outfitted a little more for so many people. The house sleeps 20 but only provides 12 dinner plates. There is only 1 dishwasher and fridge in the house - most this size would have 2 of each. There is a fridge in the boathouse but we really could have used another dishwasher. My complaints are pretty minor - you'll still have a great time if you are the type of group who needs to catch up and spend time around the house while chilling on the lake. However, watch the front steps - they are of uneven depth and a couple of us took a tumble down them.
