The photos do it justice - it is a huge house on a level lot with lots of waterfront and a huge boathouse. The water was super warm when we were there in early July. It is 6-8' deep off the dock so you can jump in and swim a long way. It is across from the power plant but what you see instead are 2 wooded islands. It is on a private cove behind those islands and well off the main lake. While you still hear the drone of engines, it is probably as quiet and peaceful as you will find on the lake. The caretaker was great and very responsive and the inside of the house was very clean. There are 4 kayaks and it is easy to take them out, and they provide all kinds of fun water toys, floats, noodles, etc. There is foosball, mini-basketball, a few board games, 2 boxes of wooden train tracks and dog bowls inside the house. Now for what I didn't like - I was also looking at this property at rentlka.com where it states it has a sandy beach. The waterfront is completely covered by a boardwalk/bulkhead and the lake bottom is hard rock that is painful to walk on without water shoes. There is a 10'x10' sandy area that is nicely shaded but it is really is just a sandbox. Neither website gives a lot of info about the layout of the house. The top level of the house has 1 master suite, kitchen and living room. So make sure that you aren't alone when you return from the grocery store since you'll be carrying those bags up 3 flights of stairs. The Food Lion is about 15 min away but there are very few options for other food, carryout, or restaurants. So you'll be cooking a lot. The grill is big but the kitchen could be outfitted a little more for so many people. The house sleeps 20 but only provides 12 dinner plates. There is only 1 dishwasher and fridge in the house - most this size would have 2 of each. There is a fridge in the boathouse but we really could have used another dishwasher. My complaints are pretty minor - you'll still have a great time if you are the type of group who needs to catch up and spend time around the house while chilling on the lake. However, watch the front steps - they are of uneven depth and a couple of us took a tumble down them.
