Warning: You won't want to leave

5 of 5
Our large extended family group stayed at this amazing home for a week over Christmas, and it exceeded every expectation. The photos truly don’t do it justice. The view from the huge expanded deck is simply stunning. If you go in spring, summer, or fall — or you’re lucky enough to get a warm winter day — grab your beverage of choice and congratulate yourself for finding such a great place. The great room with the huge TV will be appreciated by movie buffs. Cooks will enjoy the wonderful kitchen, and people who don’t want to cook but want to socialize will appreciate the open floor plan. Winter visitors will appreciate the huge fireplace and firewood provided. If you have a big group be sure to ask the owner about the apartment next door. The repurposed garage is great for gamers (video or good old ping pong). Above the former garage are two bedrooms, a bathroom, a small living area and a mini-kitchen. It’s ideal for teenagers or for people who want to be louder (or quieter) than the people in the main house. Other misc. notes: -Water lovers in the group will enjoy the lake access (lots of steps to get there, but well worth it), the canoe and the floating dock. -Several seniors in our group who had various hip and knee replacements liked the fact that the house is on one level. -Four legged family members will enjoy sniffing around the ivy covered front yard and leashed walks. With the abundant amount of birds, plus wildlife, plus other homes not on top of you but within several hundred yards, your dogs should have good recall or be trustworthy enough to hang out with their people pack on the huge (but ungated) deck. Just FYI, We found out at the end of our visit that there is a fenced dog park about 15 minutes away, but we weren’t able to check it out firsthand. -If you’ve been considering new living room furniture, the power leather recliners in the great room could be hazardous to your wallet after you leave this amazing lakeside retreat. -Tip: The luxurious master right off the kitchen should go to night owls who will enjoy late night great room conversations or movie-watching. Early birds should choose one of the bedrooms on the quieter wing of the house. Last but not least, Mark, the owner, was incredibly responsive and helpful with our last-minute rental and questions. He couldn’t have been nicer to work with and gave us a late checkout, too. If you're going to Lake Anna, you can't go wrong renting this place!

Awesome Family Vacation Spot

5 of 5
Our family of 14 had a wonderful time and plenty of space at Deer Beach. The beach, dock and lake are perfect for families with small children who like to fish and swim. Lots of little fish to catch right from the dock. The house was spacious, clean and well equipped. We canoed and paddle boarded all around the inlet watching turtles, herons and an eagle. The nearby Food Lion was especially convenient. Deer Beach Lodge is extremely quiet and peaceful... the perfect place for a family vacation.
