Loved it, Loved it, Loved it...

This is a beautiful, well maintained cottage overlooking the Shenandoah River. Great furnishings, great beds, great linens and a well equipped kitchen make this a wonderful place for a get away. The views of the river and mountains are amazing. Sean was wonderful to work with and provided everything we needed for a great stay. The house has a wonderful traffic flow so though it is not huge, we did not bump into each other. The deck furniture is wonderful and all three decks were well used during our stay. I would recommend that you arrive during daylight, as the road in can be confusing for those of us used to city roads, even though Sean provided excellent directions. I highly recommend this place for families, couples and all get-aways. Thanks!!

We couldn't get people to leave

5 of 5
We were a group of 14 from Wash. DC so we rented both this and the Overlook House (about a 15 min. walk across mowed fields, or a 5 min. drive) for a weekend escape. This place is beautiful, impeccably clean and extremely comfortable, with quality furnishings and a well equipped kitchen. I had rented the Overlook house twice before, and felt a little guilty that we would be depriving our overflow friends "down here" of the fantastic views, but it was all we could do to get them to tear themselves away! The river bank "beach" area is lovely - I can see spending the whole day down there in summer. It is only about a 20 min. drive to the entrance of Skyline Drive & Shenandoah National park, but you can also easily satisfy your hiking & nature & mountain view desires just by walking around the property. The game room is certainly an attraction for kids and teens, but our group - 50ish - slapped out a few good games of ping pong and air hockey. And the dogs went absolutely nuts chasing and racing around!

Very nice, secluded little cottage

5 of 5
We had a lovely few days at the getaway cottage. It appears to be no more than a few years old, well maintained and everything you need is there, be it pots and pans, towels, grill, etc. The only thing missing was soap and shampoo, but we were prepared. A word of caution though, as hinted in some other reviews. You will drive 1.25 miles on a poor, gravel road that is incredibly steep in two areas. We had no problem with it, but it is slow going to avoid the potholes and the car did get quite dirty after a rain. If you have a fancy low-slung sports car, you may want to reconsider your mode of transportation. One other note: it really is in the boonies. Don't trust your nav system, use the directions from the owners!
