Spacious, private, and quiet

5 of 5
Great cabin. The rooms were all very large. Each bedroom has a private full bath; the master bathroom has a giant shower with multiple showerheads. All the fixtures and appliances were new. The loft area was huge with 2 twin beds, a sofa, and tons of space. My sons chose to sleep there rather than in one of the bedrooms because of the view of grazing cows. Unfinished basement has a ping-pong table. We loved this place and highly recommend it.

We couldn't get people to leave

5 of 5
We were a group of 14 from Wash. DC so we rented both this and the Overlook House (about a 15 min. walk across mowed fields, or a 5 min. drive) for a weekend escape. This place is beautiful, impeccably clean and extremely comfortable, with quality furnishings and a well equipped kitchen. I had rented the Overlook house twice before, and felt a little guilty that we would be depriving our overflow friends "down here" of the fantastic views, but it was all we could do to get them to tear themselves away! The river bank "beach" area is lovely - I can see spending the whole day down there in summer. It is only about a 20 min. drive to the entrance of Skyline Drive & Shenandoah National park, but you can also easily satisfy your hiking & nature & mountain view desires just by walking around the property. The game room is certainly an attraction for kids and teens, but our group - 50ish - slapped out a few good games of ping pong and air hockey. And the dogs went absolutely nuts chasing and racing around!
