Outstanding home by the sea

5 of 5
Probably the most relaxing vacation we've ever spent, testimony to the beautiful Victorian town of Cape Charles and the wonderful Seashell Cottage. The house really is no more than 60 seconds from the (sandy/safe) beach..and that's with two small kids in tow! House is immaculate and very well equipped, although we pretty much ate out in CC during the week in a number of good restaurant options, as well as first class ice cream & coffee shops. One point to note, the second floor bedroom can only be accessed via the master bedroom on the first, which does make it somewhat of a passage way if privacy is important. Loved it, hope to return & thoroughly recommend.

A Week To Remember On Virginia's Eastern Shore

5 of 5
What a wonderful vacation week our family experienced in Cape Charles, Virginia. It started with a no nonsense rental process with George, one of the property owners. The rental fee was all inclusive, no hidden fees or surprise charges. George could not have been more responsive nor more professional in his communication with me. We rented one half of the wonderful Colonial home. The other half was rented to a family making their 5th straight summer visit to the home, which speaks volumes. Our family of six adults, two children (ages 4 and 6) and our dog found the accommodations to be very clean and frankly exceeded our expectations. Extras such as beach toys, boogie board, four bicycles, backyard picnic area with two grills, outdoor shower and more made our stay so comfortable. Cape Charles itself made our family feel as though we had stepped back in time to a more relaxed way of life. I realized this area was special when everyone would give you a friendly wave. We walked to everything in town (one block to the beach, two blocks to the park and playground and four blocks to the downtown business area). The beach was of particular pleasure especially for our two young granddaughters. Because it is located on the bay side of the Eastern Shore, there is very little wave impact to beach goers. No rip tides or hidden currents to be concerned with and at low tide the girls could literally walk some 200 yards away from shore. The sunsets were absolutely gorgeous and perhaps the best attribute was how sparsely crowded the beach was at all times of the day. Although we cooked most of our meals in the fully furnished kitchen, we did frequent the local ice cream parlor, The Brown Dog, more than once! We also had a very good meal at the Shanty overlooking the Cape Charles harbor. A visit to the local museum gave us a historical perspective on the Eastern Shore and Cape Charles in particular. We have two golfers in the family and the local Palmer and Nicklaus courses were excellent. Our entire family found Cape Charles and our "home away from home" to be such a relaxing place that we hope to return many times in the future.

Thank you Tucker

We absolutely fell in love with Onancock. The town has gourmet restaurants and stores, a Saturday fresh air market, a great theater, a wonderful marina and the friendliest folks. Everywhere we went in town people would say hello. Even the police officer in town stopped to talk and tell us about the town. I felt like we were in Mayberry on the water. This home is a historic gem. We played on the water every day, all day and in the evenings we sat and enjoyed the amazing breezes and sunset over the water. I took my morning coffee to the dock every day and watched the sunrise. The owner really worked with us. We had a challenge with air conditioners and 2 new ones were delivered the same day. We really appreciated this. Thank you! All we would say is that you understand that this is an historic home dating to the 1700's Treat it with great care and understand that on the bay there will be some mosquitos. Bring your bug spray. If you can visit when planning that is great. :)
