We could not have picked a better week to visit Cape Charles. School was still in session so the days were quiet and the shops not crowded with tourists. This was our sixth visit to Cape Charles but the second time actually staying in town. Sunshine Cottage was all it promised and more. Immaculate, totally contained with everything you needed...(just bring your swimsuits, we were told). And they were right! The location was perfect with a little sandwich shop two doors away. Coffee and newspaper for early risers and a place to sit outside if you like. You won't find a more friendly town than Cape Charles. Restaurants to suit everyone. Even pets are welcome wherever they had an outdoor patio for dining. If you like to walk, this is the town for you. Crepe Myrtle trees about every 20 ft. on every street all over town. You can imagine the colors when they bloom. Fragrances of Jasmine, Honeysuckle and a myriad of blossoms added to the beauty of the walk. The beach is fabulous and the Victorian homes all over town make this a favorite getaway for us. We've been to Cape Charles in the cooler months as well and there is always something going on at the Palace Theatre or other areas of town. Wine tastings every Friday and Saturday at the Gourmet Shop on Mason street...you don't want to miss it. All in all, a most relaxing vacation for anyone looking for a small town feeling but with enough to keep you as busy as you'd like to be. The B & B's and house rentals are the way to go. We'll be back!
