Wonderful Place to Gather

4 of 5
Cape Charles is a wonderful, friendly little village and the Quarter Master is one of the homes that makes it so charming. The house is located a short walk from the beach where we spent every evening at sunset and just a block from the shopping area where we helped out the local economy. We traveled the length of the Virginia portion of the peninsula and enjoyed many good restaurants, wildlife areas, small villages, and even saw the wild ponies of Assateague. The house is spacious, the kitchen is large with everything you might need. A full bathroom on the main level was a real asset and with three upstairs, no one was waiting. A new washer and dryer came in real handy. Although we walked most places, there were bikes in the back yard for our use. We are four friends that get together once a year as we are spread across the country. We were all very pleased with all that the Quarter Master had to offer and would recommend it to groups of friends or for families. It is a gem!

gorgeous spot!

5 of 5
We had an amazing time here at the end of the summer, with perfect weather and hardly any neighbors around. The house is very homey and comfortable, with good beds, nice bathrooms, and a heavenly outdoor shower. It's got a nice big kitchen with everything a serious chef could need; we visited a bunch of farm stands along the way, and there are good seafood vendors nearby, as well as a great Food Lion. As nice as the house is inside, we really enjoyed the sweet amenities outdoors - fun excursions in the kayaks, cocktails on the Adirondack chairs watching some astonishing sunsets, chillin' in the hammock, breakfast at the picnic table under the shade of the oak tree...One morning, several pods of dolphins swam by, heading up the creek for their mullet breakfast - such a treat to see, and apparently a rarity! My husband caught many crabs in the pots off the dock, as well as some nice croakers when we rented a little motorboat out of the nearby town of Wachapreague, where we spent the day on the water, hoping for flounder and exploring the remote barrier islands. Just wonderful. We took a picnic to the beach at Assateague for sunrise one morning - hardly any people, many pelicans - the water temperature and waves of the Atlantic were mild and beautiful. To get there you drive by some gorgeous marshland and through the touristy but cute town of Chincoteague. Nice! This part of the Eastern Shore of Chesapeake has long been our favorite - surrounded by nature, with a few picturesque small towns, rolling farmlands and beautiful water everywhere. Can't wait to return to this house and pretend that it's ours! The owners were extra nice and made the whole experience easy. We hope to get back there as often as we can!

time out

4 of 5
We liked the property, I can see the owner put a lot of thought into getting it right. Steve was very responsive every time I reached out with questions. I can sum up the vacation in 2 words: rest and eat :) We caught crabs using the traps provided (word to the wise, catching is easy, eating is hard because you have to fight the crab for every piece of meat); we didn't have that much luck with the fish, but that's ok, we bought some from the store on 13th close to First St. There's a walmart and a food lion 15 min away. We did all our cooking and the house came equipped with everything we needed. The beaches are about 1h away (Cape Charles to the South, Assateague Island to the North). The only part we didn't like so much was driving our garbage 15 min away to the trash center.
