QUIET GETAWAY WITH LOTS OF EXTRAS!

4 of 5
The house was beautiful and roomy and stocked with just about anything you might forget to bring with you on vacation (shampoo, condiments, laundry detergent, gear for the beach, etc...). We had a senior, teenage boys and a dog and everyone had their own space. The sunroom was perfect for watching all the deer that came along throughout the day as well as the big full moon that came out on our last night - it lit up the water beautifully! You're not too far from the grocery store or a few restaurants. There is access to the water for kayaks/boat just down the road and taking a walk with the dog was easy with hardly any traffic. You are close to a couple of museums and Wallops Island (which you can also see when you look northeast). If you like wine, the house has its own little stock of wines from which you can choose one and leave one. You are also close to a couple of wineries and there are plenty of glasses and a decent corkscrew. The kitchen was setup nicely to use, complete with electric stove, microwave and coffee maker (didn't even use the grill outside). We cooked just about every meal. There are plenty of pots, pans, dishes, utensils and also serving bowls, cutting boards and placemats. The dining table seats 6 but we added a couple of chairs and made it work for 8. There was no disposal but it was great to have the dishwasher. I only have a couple of things I didn't like: (1) The downstairs "rec room" is accessed by a spiral staircase; I wouldn't recommend for small children or seniors. The steps are pretty steep and are just plain wood with no tread. If you want to gather everyone for a movie it makes it a little challenging because there is no TV on the main level (but they do have a great collection of CDs and a nice CD player!). (2) There are no ceiling fans so at night the queen bedroom would get a little stuffy with the door shut. (3) The sunroom is nothing but sun - there are no shades on the windows in case you want to have a little protection from the sun. Great views and you wouldn't want to block them all the time, but it would have been nice to have the option. Overall, I would recommend this property. It was clean, spacious, had lots of extras if you needed them and it was remote without being too remote. Older kids can enjoy the downstairs while the adults enjoy the upstairs and seniors can still manage on the upper level. Might not be appropriate for really young children because of the steps.

GREAT FAMILY GETAWAY

5 of 5
This is a great family retreat away from the hustle and bustle of Cape Charles. The house sits on a large lot and has a very nice swimming pool with a diving board and a large deck with a gas BBQ. There is also a large fenced yard with plenty of room to play ball, badminton, etc. The house is well stocked with everything you need from a large selection of reading material to original artwork. We especially liked the 4th bedroom above the garage for the couple or person that wants additional privacy. Another great feature of this home is the proximity to Kiptopeke State Park which offers bike/kayak rentals and has a great summer program where you can learn to fish, cast a fishing net, etc.

PEACE AND QUIET ON THE EASTERN SHORE

5 of 5
We spent 4 days at Randy's Get-Away in the woods on the water, and it was just what the Dr. ordered. Peace and quiet but a great time. My Brother and I really needed some R and R and we received it in large doses here. We were out on the water every day catching crabs, fishing and enjoying all that this property has to offer. My brother commented that he felt like he had been there before and felt right at home - the comfort level was high! Enjoyed sitting on the screen porch, listening to the breezes, the birds, the water. We ventured out to a few of the local places - not to be missed is the Great Machipongo Clam Shack - what a great place to eat! Unpretentious and great food. Also headed over to the Island House in Wachapreague - also very good. Would recommend this to anyone I know who needs a few days off the grid. We really enjoyed ourselves - Thanks Randy!
