WOW! What a great house and town! I don’t know about you, but I lead a busy life in a hectic city. For my getaway, I was looking for a quiet and spacious house, where I could spend some peaceful time – a place to escape the busy world and collect my thoughts in a relaxing environment with my fiancée and special friends. What I found was even better than I expected. The house is gracious, spacious, and bright – a perfect space in which to rest and reflect. Whether sitting in a rocking chair on the wraparound porch, gazing out over the colorful flowers and sheltering trees, or sitting in the breakfast/sun room drinking coffee as I watched a rabbit scampering across the large lawn, or relaxing with a book on the sofa in the light-filled living room, I was always wrapped in a feeling of being at home the way it should be. For an escape to loftier heights, I would go to the top floor, which offered a completely self-contained “nest” from which to look down on the rest of the world – a great place to sleep too! Since everyone in our group loves good food, we found the large and well-equipped kitchen a treat. This house is the perfect place for family or friends to relax together and reconnect.
The house is also a perfect base camp for excursions into the beautiful and quaint town that surrounds it. I really enjoyed walks along the peaceful streets and through the attractive neighborhoods and park. The beautiful, ornate houses bring charm and warmth to the town, which has the feel of a quaint waterside town of the early 1900s – a genteel place, where everyone is a kindly and familiar neighbor. As I walked, I would greet those I met with a smile and friendly greeting, and the same was returned to me. The uncrowded beach is also a great place to spend your time, and the sunsets over the water are beyond belief. I found myself making a daily pilgrimage to see the sunset whenever possible throughout my stay. I also found joy in watching children lost in delight as they ran in and out of the calm Bay water, and families simply enjoying their time together in a wonderful place. The downtown area is also a treasure of eclectic shops and fabulous places to eat. Needless to say, I indulged my boundless appetite for seafood in many forms. Fantastic golf courses are close by too. There is something for everyone.
I loved my time at the welcoming Chesapeake Dream house in charming Cape Charles. You really should try this place yourself! Cy of Reston
