gorgeous spot!

5 of 5
We had an amazing time here at the end of the summer, with perfect weather and hardly any neighbors around. The house is very homey and comfortable, with good beds, nice bathrooms, and a heavenly outdoor shower. It's got a nice big kitchen with everything a serious chef could need; we visited a bunch of farm stands along the way, and there are good seafood vendors nearby, as well as a great Food Lion. As nice as the house is inside, we really enjoyed the sweet amenities outdoors - fun excursions in the kayaks, cocktails on the Adirondack chairs watching some astonishing sunsets, chillin' in the hammock, breakfast at the picnic table under the shade of the oak tree...One morning, several pods of dolphins swam by, heading up the creek for their mullet breakfast - such a treat to see, and apparently a rarity! My husband caught many crabs in the pots off the dock, as well as some nice croakers when we rented a little motorboat out of the nearby town of Wachapreague, where we spent the day on the water, hoping for flounder and exploring the remote barrier islands. Just wonderful. We took a picnic to the beach at Assateague for sunrise one morning - hardly any people, many pelicans - the water temperature and waves of the Atlantic were mild and beautiful. To get there you drive by some gorgeous marshland and through the touristy but cute town of Chincoteague. Nice! This part of the Eastern Shore of Chesapeake has long been our favorite - surrounded by nature, with a few picturesque small towns, rolling farmlands and beautiful water everywhere. Can't wait to return to this house and pretend that it's ours! The owners were extra nice and made the whole experience easy. We hope to get back there as often as we can!

Family gathering

5 of 5
The place was lovely and comfortable for everyone. The porch was a delight to hang out on and having a golf cart was a lot of fun. Some of the basic essentials in the kitchen were missing like salt & pepper and sugar, but not a big deal. Will plan to rent this one again if it is available.

At home on the Eastern Shore.

5 of 5
We look for intimate connections to the places we visit. When we visited Edinburgh, my wife found one of the oldest lodging houses in Scotland and within a day we had a handle on what we could expect in Edinburgh, Scotland & beyond. The fact is that while most vacation homes we've rented are nice and comfy, most miss the opportunity to offer the local intimate connection to the area. You can typically replace one experience with another interchangeably, though the properties may be in completely different regions. Not here. Cat, the proprietor is a local who knows the shore and it shows. First off, she is AMAZINg! She gave us detailed insider's information on where to visit all over the Eastern Shore. Ginger's was our favorite. Secondly, the home is awesome! It is well prepared for visitors like myself who prefer feeling comfortably at home with TONS of room (indoor & out) to the small modern hotel room. We cooked the whole time both inside in the fully outfitted kitchen & on the grill. We enjoyed eating on the private back porch ad well as at the table. I found myself napping often on one of the large comfiest sofas. Again w felt at home. Thirdly, the price. I'm still in shock at how inexpensive this awesome find is. We didn't expect a lot for the bargain being offered. The fact is that we've found a vacation spot that goes to the top of our list. I considered not telling you about this amazing find because we'd love to keep it as our own secret, but that just wouldn't be right. If you're like us, you prefer the genuine item with it's quirky character over fluffy stays in homogenous hotels. This is the place for you and Cat is the proprietor for you. Happy travels.
