VERY NICE HOME AND RESPONSIVE SERVICE

4 of 5
The York River home was well priced, especially as regards to other competing homes on the VRBO site located in the general area. And service was responsive. I'd like to have given it 5 stars but we had a few problems, first with A/C and also a few other items. They were fixed very quickly, however. I must say the view was wonderful and the outdoor space was the best. LOVE that picnic table! My husband and I and our daughter and her BF had a great 4th of July supper and used the convenient outdoor grill. My husband loved the view, the number and quality of TVs and the WiFi. The linens were of nice quality and quantity. I've stayed at a lot of places where they either had no wash cloths or there were only a few, so this was a nice amenity. The decor was extremely pleasing and you could tell the owners/manager took great care to make sure the home was comfortable. I still say the cook top needs improvement and a couple NEW non stick pans would be wonderful. The older ones worked reasonably well, but not great. The area is gorgeous. It does take a little driving to get places, but that's country living, as my daughter said. ;-)) We still managed to visit Richmond and the capital building there. They had a wonderful tour guide. We also hit Williamsburg, Yorktown, Virginia Beach and Charlottesville (Monticello). The weather was muggy and hot, which prevented full enjoyment of the home. But the home is roomy, comfortable and did I mention the view? The sunsets were spectacular and you can see the view from almost every room in the home. I gave my list of recommendations to the manager, Karen, and she was very grateful and solicitous with a prompt return of my deposit. This is a new listing but I think with time and feedback from future renters, it will become a VBRO favorite. And did I mention the view? ;-))

JUST BEAUTIFUL!

5 of 5
My family needed a place we could all stay over the Thanksgiving holiday, while we visited extended family in Kilmarnock. We preferred not to all get individual rooms at the Holiday Inn Express, especially since there were 7 of us and one couple was only staying 1 night (the H.I.E. had a 2-night minimum that weekend). I was lucky enough to find this little gem - and it was PERFECT! First of all - it's located literally ON a vineyard - AWESOME! Second, it had 4-bedrooms, a full kitchen, a fireplace and a SPECTACULAR view - so for us - it was perfection! We were able to prepare our dishes to take to the family events over in Kilmarnock, enjoy a glass of wine overlooking the gorgeous water and spend cozy evenings by the fire catching up. We were upset that we actually didn't get to spend MORE time here - since we had to spend most of this trip at the home of our extended family members. Friday - we were lucky enough to be able to squeeze in a visit to the actual winery - Athena Vineyards! We had a wonderful tasting experience for only $5, and even bought some cheese and crackers to enjoy during our tasting. Another plus -we were able to stock up on some goodies at the vineyard to give as Christmas presents. The wine was delish - and the ladies there (who also own this rental) were incredibly nice and hospitable. I would highly recommend this cozy and adorable rental for anyone staying in the Kilmarnock area for more than a day or two. It's top notch! :)

SIMPLY PERFECT!!

5 of 5
We had a week long stay with 4 generations (80- 10 months) and each and every one of us had an incredible time. The views are outstanding and can be enjoyed inside, outside, upstairs, and down. There was so much room for all of us to both be together- and find pockets of alone time too. They provided for all of our needs- towels, linens, appliances- they had it all. The well appointed kitchen made it is easy to eat at home all week long- and really, once you get here you won't want to leave. There were games, kayaks, floats, and of course the wonderful river with little beach that was perfect for the kiddos. We kayaked, sawm, napped in the hammock, and just enjoyed the beauty of nature. In town we went to a charming small town parade for the 4th and got to watch fireworks shoot off over the river from the comfort of the backyard. Truly a dream location! Barbara was such a delight to work with, charming and accommodating. Thank you, thank you, thank you!
