Great Vacation Home!

5 of 5
We could not have had a more perfect vacation than we had at Blue Water Haven! Accommodating three generations (to include three children, ages 6, 9, and 11) can be difficult, but this large, beautiful house was ideal for us all. There was space for privacy and more than enough space for shared experiences. We biked, kayaked, crabbed, fished, roasted marshmallows around the campfire, enjoyed beautiful sunrises and sunsets from the back porch, and swam in the pool morning, noon, and evening. We found everything at the house that we needed for a great time. We even found time for trips to Bush Gardens and Jamestown. Bill was quick to respond to any questions that I had prior to our arrival, gave us all the information we needed to find and enjoy the house and area, and he even gave us perfect weather for a vacation. Since we all had so much fun together at Blue Water Haven, I asked my family if they would like to vacation together again somewhere different. My grandson echoed everyone's thoughts when he said, "Why should we go somewhere else; this house has everything!"

A True Getaway

5 of 5
Time has gotten away from us since our visit to this beautiful home, just as time flew by too quickly during our Christmas stay at the James River Plantation. Although our visit seems long ago, our memories are vividly happy ones. From the moment we unlocked the first of two gates that protect this beautiful and secluded home, we knew we were in for a special and relaxing vacation. When the main house came into view, we felt as though we had gone back in time to a country estate. The house’s wonderfully furnished interior was just as impressive, with its welcoming foyer; comfortable dining room, den, and bedrooms; and large modernly equipped kitchen, pantry, and laundry room. The view overlooking the water was lovely from sunrise to sunset whether we were having coffee on the front lawn or dinner in the large, glassed-enclosed porch. Yes, we had sunrise coffee in the front yard in December! The pool house (and its pool) is quite large and includes two bathrooms with showers, a table and chairs, and an outdoor deck with lounge chairs and a view of the main house and water. The heated pool was a perfect temperature. The town of Urbanna is quaint, and everyone we met there was very friendly and hospitable. Many thanks to Linda for promptly responding to pre-rental questions and helping to make our stay so enjoyable. It was a perfect Christmas getaway. We hope to return to the James River Plantation, perhaps explore its beauty in another season.

House on the River

5 of 5
We had family coming over from UK for 2 weeks and instead of doing the usual Washington DC tourist thing we thought of doing something different. This was the perfect place to get away from it all. We didn't even realize how fast the 3 days passed by and were lamenting that we could not stay longer. The house had enough rooms (and more importantly enough bathrooms) for the 7 of us. But nothings beats the view. The back of the house is almost all glass so you get unobstructed view of the Potomac no matter where you are. I takes books on these relaxing getaways but I didn't get to read a single page because I was too busy enjoying the view. Each time of the day had its own charm; starting from the beautiful sunrise to the mid-day blue sky and the wind and the waves on the river to the quiet evenings and nights. I don't remember when is the last time I saw so many stars in the night sky. We did our fair share of fishing and grilling. I wish I had a boat or jetski to get on the water. Unfortunately there was no boat or jetski rental places close by. We also visited George Washington's birthplace and ancestral home which is only 15 minutes away. We will definitely be back and stay longer next time. We want to thank the Pooles for sharing the beautiful house with us.
