The cabin was in a beautiful location.

4 of 5
The cabin looked exactly like the pictures. We were not disappointed at all. We had a very minor glitch with the front door lock and Ken was very helpful. We stayed with our adult kids and they had a great time at the lake. The rooms were very comfortable and although outside it felt very rustic, inside were all the comforts of home. When we come back to Shenandoah, we will certainly stay here again!

Wonderful scape from the DC area

5 of 5
I have been going regularly to this lake house for many years and I would definitely recommended for a getaway from the stress of the city. The house is really cozy, built in wood, with everything that you might need in order to feel comfortable (yes, it also has wi/fi, but you will not need it). The lake is a wonderful place for swimming, kayaking, bird watching, exploring, barbequeing or just laying around doing nothing but relaxing. From the deck you will have a wonderful view of the water, all surrounded by's too good to be just a couple hours from DC. As a plus, the sky and golf resort is less than 10 minutes by car, if you like those activities. It has also been a great pleasure to deal with Kathy, the owner, always enthusiastic about letting all her guests having a great time. She has also connected us with local farms around in order to get fresh eggs, meat and vegetables. A great place for a great adventure in spring, summer, fall or winter!!

Long weekend in June

4 of 5
We stayed at The Sticks for a long weekend at the end of June. We rented it at the "last minute" and the owners were very responsive in handling our request. The directions provided were excellent, and we found the home with no problem. Having never been to the area, we enjoyed the location central (a couple minutes drive to both, it's walkable to the Lake but not with the kids, it was too hilly for them) to the summer amenities of Lake Laura and the Bryce resort where we tried the paddle boats, golf, and grass tubing. Resort was pretty much empty, very easy to get a tee time, and patake in the summer offerings. The house was very comfortable and homey, great selection of books and magazines. Beds were comfy, bathrooms were clean. The telescope was amazing. The kids really enjoyed the ping pong and bumper pool, great for a rainy afternoon. Kitchen was pretty well stocked with utensils, dishes, etc. Very nice place for the price. We may return for the ski season!
