Beautiful, spacious river house

5 of 5
Absolutely beautiful. Miss Kitty's Place was just what our family needed. It was a spacious house, and easily fit our seven people, and could have handled more. It was close to DC (1 1/2 to 2 hours with traffic), and even closer to some of Virginia's natural wonders like Shenandoah National Park (1/2 hour), Skyline Drive, Luray Caverns, and Shenandoah Caverns (highly recommended by this family). The drive to DC was doable, though traffic is a guarantee, and it was truly wonderful to come back to Miss Kitty's after the crazy, busyness of the city. The house and its grounds are quiet, peaceful and beautiful. You literally have the Rappahannock River in your back yard. Our kids loved hiking the trails, wading and swimming in the river, and even using the boat at the fishing pond. Rivers, streams, waterfalls, trails, sunrises over the water, gorgeous stars at night. Really couldn't be better in terms of scenery. If you are into restaurants, they are close (15 min.), but Miss Kitty's Place has a full kitchen, two grills, and an outdoor fire pit. With a little grocery shopping 20 minutes away you can make all your own meals from scratch. Thank you Merilee, for your wonderful hospitality and the use of your truly beautiful home.

Ideal group getaway location!

5 of 5
We just spent a fantastic weekend with 25 friends and family at this rural getaway! Our group has been getting together for 24 years and I have been in search of such a great spot for many years! While this spot is definitely remote, there is lots to do once you are on the property. The Meadows House and the nearby cottages easily fit our group and had abundant large gathering areas, pool, tennis, hiking path, spa, etc.! The kitchen was immense and even had a walk in refrigerator! A big shout out to Connie and Paul who made sure we were well taken care of. We were even able to borrow bikes for our group bike ride near Culpeper. I am looking forward to many return trips for girls' getaways and for our 25th anniversary of our group get together. This is definitely a rare find!!
