Recent US Virgin Islands Reviews

OUTSTANDING

5 of 5
I never write a review of places that we have traveled to, but I am making an exception this time. We had a family get-together and stayed at Sea View Play. From the moment we all walked in the front door and saw the beautiful rooms and breathtaking views we were convinced that we made the right decision on booking this property for our vacation. The views from the home are spectacular. Everyone loved the pool and looking out from the balcony as we relaxed on the comfortable lounge chairs. The guys played golf at the Carambola Golf Club a couple of times and we all went to the Carambola beach resort which is gorgeous. There are several restaurants right down the street from the house. We ate at Rowdy Joe's one night and had ice cream there another night. This is a very popular place with many of the islanders. You definitely need a car to get around, but nothing is that far away. We had an awesome time! I would definitely recommend this house for a relaxing enjoyable vacation!

Perfect vacation

5 of 5
At the end of July (2014) we enjoyed one of the best vacations of our lives, 8 days and nights in unit E-15 at the Point Pleasant resort. E-15, located near the top of Point Pleasant, is a cozy, clean and updated studio-sized condo with a very comfortable king bed, full kitchen equipped with utensils, plates, glasses and cookware, and a separate seating area with a satellite flat-screen TV and DVD player. There is free wi-fi. The upper swimming pool is a short walk away. And what a view! Normally I am a late riser, but I was up early every morning to gaze at the vistas. To the side of the wrap-around balcony is the bay, where Jimmy Buffet's new resort Margaritaville is set to open, and across the bay, Coki Beach, famous for its snorkeling. From the front of the balcony, you can see St. John and, in the distance, Tortola and the BVI. Point Pleasant itself, with units rising steeply from the bay to the top of the hill, is beautifully landscaped and well-maintained, with a courteous and eager-to-please staff. The cab ride from the airport to Point Pleasant is about $15 per person. At present at Point Pleasant, there is a bar on the bay, Panga, which serves casual food (burgers, tacos, etc.) and superb tropical cocktails. There is a small beach at the bottom of Point Pleasant where you can snorkel, adjacent to the Sugar Bay resort, which holds a carnival party on Thursday nights. Only minutes away from Point Pleasant on the East End of the island is the village of Red Hook, which offers the best variety of dining and drinking establishments on St. Thomas. I highly recommend the Italian restaurant Pesce. A mile or so past Red Hook is the Food Center supermarket, which sells steaks, fresh fish and live Caribbean lobster. Also, wine, beer and a wide range of liquors. We saved ourselves quite a bit of money eating breakfast and dinner at the condo. At Red Hook you catch the half-hour ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. The ferry leaves on the hour and costs $14 round trip. Also close by is Sapphire Beach, which has good snorkeling and plenty of shade trees. At Sapphire, you can catch a day sail to St. John and various snorkeling spots aboard the 57-foot sailboat Nightwind. For $115 (if paid in cash), you sail from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., make at least two stops, with an open bar all day, fresh fruit and pastries when you board, and a delicious lunch. They take up to 15 passengers, but there were only six of us the day we sailed.

Relaxing at the Aqua Blue Villa

5 of 5
My 3 girlfriends and I rented this property for a week to celebrate our 5oth. The villa was beautiful and spacious - it can easily accomodate 8 guests or more. We loved the secluded, East End location. It is underdeveloped and undiscovered; it was fun exploring the hillsides in our rented Jeep. Ask the owners about the Duchess' Estate - you can't miss this property as you're walking or driving home.. I would definitely rent a car. The island is small and easy to navegate but public transport is not really an option. Having said that, Helene and Martin were so gracious for picking us up at the airport . No sooner had they dropped off the first guest when they received the call from the second shift. They were so pleasant and helpful throughout our stay. The rum and fruit basket gift was a thoughtful touch. The villa grounds were equally enchanting. They provided all sorts of flaura and fauna. Helene even gave us a demo on sunburn treatment, using an aloe vera plant from the garden. She cut, peeled and applied the natural skin soother to our fried backs and shoulders.. What a Godsend! We ladies spent lots of time lounging- "clubbing" poolside with blended drinks and tunes from the radio. The pool is large and secluded - great for doing laps or just taking in the Caribbean views. Please apply sunscreen liberally! My one and only one disappointment was with the water quality by the villa. There was a lot of algae and the conditions were not suitable for swimming. Further down by the Divi Resort the water was better but not great. Hence,, another reason for a car - a 10 minute ride in either direction will bring you to some great beaches. Other activities/attractions worth investigating are the Day Sail to Buck Island. We booked ours through Big Beards - great time! A quick drive to Point Udall is a great foto op. Check out Cramer Park on your way to the landmark. There were lots of slanders relaxing at the picnic/beach grounds. All the restaurants were great. Try Leni's Mexican Cantini in Christiansted for a cheap, delicious meal. Just prepare yourself for outdoor, picnic tables and roaming rowdy roosters...and Leni (lol)! Another crowd pleaser was The Deep End at The Tamarind Reef. Bring your snorkeling equipment and towel. Pool and beach are available to all restaurant guests (ALL Day)! I'll let you discover your own favorites- there are certainly plenty available.
