A little piece of paradise!

4 of 5
Just got back from St. Thomas and staying in Chuck's unit. As a first time HomeAway user I was a bit skeptical but everything turned out great. The pictures posted are exactly what you get. The unit was very clean and spacious. Having two bathrooms and a king size bed was a definite plus. The kitchen was indeed very well stocked - there are even lots of spices in the cabinet that we didn't need to buy. The snorkeling was great right off the beach - we saw turtles and stingrays (even an spotted eagle ray) along with multitudes of fish. There are a variety of sizes of fins along with a few masks in the unit although you may want to bring your own mask and snorkel. There is one snorkel vest for an adult and one small child size snorkel vest. There are some beach toys, floats, boogie boards and several beach chairs which came in handy on our visits to other beaches. The only negative on Sapphire Beach right now is that there is a mass amount of seaweed landing on the beach due to the wind direction. The staff on site were very diligent about cleaning it every day but they just couldn't keep up. This was not a deterrent to go in the water though.. it was still beautiful. The pool grill and cabana are closed right now for re-construction but the pool is still open and this was the perfect time of year to visit to feel like we were the only ones there as most days we were! Building B is being completely renovated (as in gutted and re-done) right now but the construction noise surprisingly was not a problem or too loud. The pavillion by the beach is also being renovated but the dive shop is still open renting equipment and beach chairs were plentiful. We had one issue with the air conditioning when we arrived -it was not working downstairs but after a few emails and a few days it was fixed. Chuck was very friendly and prompt in responding to all of my emails with questions before the trip and he provided lots of great information beforehand. The security staff on site were also very friendly and kept the cruise ship guests out of the pool area which was nice. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking. Basically what you see is what you get and it was great! Thanks Chuck for providing a place to call home for 9 days in paradise! Christine and Darrell

Amazing Villa for a family vacation!

5 of 5
The pictures are true depiction of the entire villa. We were pleasantly surprised. We were greeted at the airport by a lovely lady who guided us through the trip to the Villa. She highlighted the area with a map and suggested excursions on the island. The layout was perfect for a party of 6. The view was spectacular, breath taking beyond words. The air conditioning was not needed secondary to the constant Caribbean breeze. The roads were narrow and treacherous and the villa driveway was extreme. Have a confident driver. The kitchen was complete with all necessary utensils and cookware. We made dinner every night and ate on the patio with a gorgeous view. The villa was very clean and the surroundings were quiet and safe. Some of the attractions you must see include: St. John beaches and Mermaid Chair. We look forward to returning to the Villa during out next visit and would recommend to all our family and friends. Thanks Andy.

Perfect family trip

5 of 5
Four generations of our family spent an unforgettable week in this amazing place. The weather was perfect, the home, the beach, the pool had something for everyone. The owner, Suzanne, was so gracious and helpful and the staff of Monica, Andrine, and Bob were very pleasant and accommodating. Monica cooked us delicious meals, Andrine created beautiful fruit trays and salads, and Bob was always there when we called him. The beach equipment of kayaks, boards, chairs and lounges made time at the beautiful beach so much fun. And the floats and toys at the pool were enjoyed. There were many places to gather and enjoy each other and yet plenty of places for quiet reading. Some of our group went scuba diving; some took a trip to Mountain View on the other side of the bay; went to the Ice Bar downtown, and a few played golf at challenging Mahogany Run. One day we chartered Daydreamer Catamaran to take us snorkeling areas, other beaches, and a stop at Cruz Bay on St. John. This was a fantastic day! One day Glorianna came to give terrific massages. Our evenings were spent playing games (sometimes we got pretty rowdy) or sitting outside enjoying the night and where we were. No one will ever forgot this week in paradise! Monica asked our four year old great-grandson if he was going to come back to Sand Dollar. His reply: "I'm coming back lots of times!!!"
