We are frequent visitors to St. John and this is by far the best home we have stayed in! The home is very well thought out and was perfect for our family of 5. The high end finishes are just lovely. This is the first time we have not had to fight the ants for our tooth brushes in the morning because the house is extremely well-maintained. Everything that you could need is at the house and ready for you. The owners were very helpful, friendly, and accommodating. Our kids even adopted the neighbor's sweet dog during our visit. Beyond the actually house, Apito's location is superb. You are less than 5 minutes from Maho Beach. Coral Bay and Cruz are 15 and 20 minutes away (we have stayed near Lameshur and Calabash Boom and it is hard to face that drive to Cruz some days). The view is wonderful and the trade winds actually were cooling. The owners took obvious care to ensure that Apito takes great advantage of the natural surroundings. While we were there we visited our favorite restaurants: La Tapa, Waterfront Bistro, Shipwrecks, Sweet Plantains, Skinny Legs, and High Tide (our traditional arrival and departure spot by the docks). Unfortunately, we missed Jake's because they were closed for vacation and Aqua Bistro has really declined and suggest you skip the food but their bar is still good. We hiked several trails, took a day sail around St. John and snorkeled some spots around Lovango Cay and saw several spotted eagle rays. The beaches are always spectacular and we saw so many turtles on this trip. The Apito website has some great links, including to the book: St. John Feet, Fins, and 4-wheel Drive. I recommend it! Even though we have been many times before, we found lots of new adventures on St. John. We loved our stay and hated to go home. We hope we are able to return very soon and will stay at Apito!
