Lovely, lovely, lovely

5 of 5
Beautiful space. Lovely attention to detail. Spotless, fresh, well maintained. We loved having coffee every morning out on the screened porch, as we plotted which beach we would go to that day. The kitchen is outfitted with most everything you would need (could use some wine glasses and a few more basic spices) and there's a nice grill out on the deck, so if you want to cook in some night, you are set. The view that is in the pics here are totally true. It is really spectacular. The night noises are also amazing. I even enjoyed the cute little lizards that are all over the place (most of them are outside--don't worry.) We liked being on the east side of the island, Coral Bay, which is quieter than Cruz Bay, but still within easy driving (well, there's no such thing as easy driving on St. John, but at least a short drive) from everything you want, like beaches and hiking. There's a great little bar/deli at the bottom of the hill, the Pickles...something. We picked up sandwiches there in the morning for the beach. Aqua Bistro is great too--we ate there twice. The fish was excellent and the tuna appetizer is to die for. This is the perfect place for a couple--no children--who have no mobility issues. Really--if you have bad knees, this is not your best choice. There are 68 steps down to the cottage, meaning there are 68 steps UP to your jeep. You truly make sure you have everything you need when you head out, because though it is excellent exercise, most people are going to be a bit out of breath at the top. The other mobility issue is the ladder up to the loft where the bed is. Again, not a huge issue, but if you get up a lot at night, or have a fear of heights, you might find this set up less to your liking. We would admonish each other to "be careful" every time we went down. The owner, Susan, does not hide this fact either. They also have a lovely property at the parking area that does not involve lots of steps, so check that out. All things considered, it is a great value and a beautiful place. We would definitely go back.

As expected and more!

Cielo Vista is everything you read in reviews and see in photos, and more. We stayed a little over a week and enjoyed every minute. It is obvious that the owners take great pride in this property. The property is very well maintained and the home is fully furnished and supplied - linens, towels, dishes kitchen equipment, etc. etc. Everything you need is at your fingertips. We traveled with a large group of friends and family and had the opportunity to see two other villa's on Gift Hill. Cielo Vista was our favorite, it's charm and view are unmatched! I highly recommend this property!

We loved this place!

This was my BF's and my 3rd time on St John; we've stayed in different areas each time, and enjoyed them all---- I mean, how could you not??? I picked this cottage (which is exactly as you see in the pictures: very cute and well-maintained, with a great view) because we wanted to be away from town--- without being waaay in the boonies of Coral Bay. This is walkable (if you're ok with steep hills) to at least one beach, and a trail into the National Park, but not too long a drive into Cruz Bay. The manager, Gina, was helpful and welcoming, and had picked us some papayas and little bananas from the property. We loved the cottage! The view is amazing! Drank coffee and bird-watched on the deck, in the morning; collapsed in the hammock, after hiking; and made dinner at home in the small-but-functional kitchen (and grill). There is an A/C in the bedroom, but this time of year it was totally unnecessary, since there was a lovely breeze every night! FYI: In case you still want to be connected to the outside world, via wifi: it is fine for emails, skype, and downloading an ebook--- but forget Netflix--- and downloading a movie from iTunes took more than 8 hours, on my ipad... So if you are interested in watching a movie in paradise, I suggest you bring it with you or rent a DVD from the Starfish Market.... and there are a handful, in the cottage, as well. There was only one drawback. There seemed to be some small leak in the water-pump system, which caused it come on once or twice every night/early am (when no one had run any water). It only ran 30 seconds or so, but was quite jolting in the peaceful, tropical night. We didn't even bother reporting it until we left, so it may have already been fixed. We'd definitely stay at Fishbone again--- It was lovely!!!
