This was our first visit to St. Croix so we did not know what to expect. When we arrived at the airport, got our rental car and headed to Dolphin's Paradise it was very dark. Rachelle had given good directions, however traveling at night and not being use to driving on the left side of unfamiliar roads made for a slow trip. When we finally arrived at the security gate at Pelican Cove and the codes work we began to relax.
The grounds of Pelican Cove are well kept, the pool is clear, the condo is clean, convenient and well stocked.. Each time we returned from a days outing, it was calming to walk up the steps and enjoy the landscaped surroundings. Rachelle had arranged for food, drinks, cleaning supplies, etc. to get us going for a day or so. The fare is excellent at the nearby Palms resturant, ambiance great and staff friendly. Several grocery stores and K Mart are convenient. We loved drinking coffee and having meals on the porch. Beautiful view!
The boardwalk in Christiansted has many good restaurants with great shopping. We enjoyed touring the island, seeing Pt. Udall at sunrise, visiting both the Cruzan and Capt. Morgan rum distillerys, visiting Christiansted National Fort, touring the town of Frederiksted and going through the rain forest. We especially enjoyed the beach in front of the condo for sunbathing, laying under the shade of the palm trees, the tropical breezes, and reading a good book.
Our dining consisted of dinner one night at Kendrick's at Buckanner to see a beautiful sunset. We also visited Eat at Cane Bay, Duggans Reef for their Sunday brunch, Cheeseburger's In Paradise, La Reine Chicken Shack, Rum Runners, Angry Nates, Savant, as well as the Palms at Pelican Cove several times. Kiki & the Flaming Gypsies and the Mocko Jumbies for Carribean night at the Palms is a must!
We plan to return to Dolphin's Paradise next year. One of our best vacations!!!!! There is so much more to see and do. Rachelle is very easy to work with.
