My first vacation at Sand Dollar was in Jan 2010 with a group of 14 people including 2 friends who married on the beach there. It was a wedding to remember and the staff at Sand Dollar helped to make it so.
Five years later, Jan 10th, 2015, most of our original group returned to enjoy the paradise of Magens Bay. Now a party of 17 friends, thanks to the addition of 2 more bedroom suites to Little Sand Dollar since our last trip. They are very nice with their own deck, beach and hammock below. Some other great additions are the massage room and the big raft anchored right off Sand Dollar beach.
We found everything as lovely as we remembered. Bob helped us with anything we needed including getting groceries stocked for us. He lives nearby and is a phone call away. He even found some duct tape for us when we needed it.
Although we had a large group, the house felt huge; there is room to spread out in every direction and the views are unbelievable. On nights we cooked at the house, there was plenty of seating for all. We did not hire a cook since most of us enjoy cooking. We found everything we needed in the kitchen. If I were to propose any suggestion for improvement, I would say add another washer/dryer but on second thought, it's vacation so who needs to do laundry?
The beach is just the right size and an easy swim out to the big raft. On several days we were adventurous and walked through the water to Magens Bay Beach Bar for lunch and a Painkiller. Don't stray far from the shoreline and it can be an easy walk even for short people. One day of our trip we spent visiting St. John and another taking a snorkeling/boat trip to Jost Van Dyke. But as several of our friends mentioned, you could spend the whole week without leave Sand Dollar and have the best vacation ever.
To sum it up: Suzanne is a dream to work with, the location can't be beat on St. Thomas and the house and staff are awesome. I feel lucky to have spent a week there and don't think it will be the last last.
