This was our second stay in Bruce and Sue's condo at the Elysian Resort on Cowpet Bay, and we loved every minute! There are times when you return to a place for a second time and experience a bit of a let-down...but that was not the case during our second stay. The condo is as advertised, complete in every detail.
Red Hook, the tiny town and inter-island ferry terminal, is a five minute drive away. The American Marina, several very good restaurants, and not-to-be missed Duffy's Love Shack reside in Red Hook. Stock up on groceries at a market about a mile outside Red Hook, or take a short drive to the town of TuTu for grocery shopping which is a bit less expensive.
There are two restaurants right on Elysian Resort property...walk to either. Only steps away enjoy your own private beach with a beautiful view of Cowpet Bay and the Caribbean. Your beach is unspoiled and uncrowded.
Pick up a rental car at the airport. That will work much better for you than hiring cabs during your stay. As St Thomas is a small island, your road trips will be short but the Virgin Islands are full of low mountains and roads sometimes have steep inclines. Not to worry though, blazing speed on St Thomas equals 20-25 miles per hour.
From your Cowpet Bay condo you are minutes away from some spectacular beaches: Megans Bay on St Thomas and Trunk Bay on St John enjoy world renown. Take a fifteen minute ferry ride to St. John from Red Hook. Explore St John, catch some rays at any of its spectacular beaches, then stop by one of its relaxed restaurants/bars for a sunset dinner.
Pack your bags, then unpack half your stuff. A couple changes of clothes, a few bathing suits and flip-flops are your essentials. During the day, everything is laid back in informal. After sunset you might add a collared shirt for the men and something similar for the ladies. Your condo contains a state of the art washer/dryer set up, so you can pack less.
Long story short, you will enjoy your stay on St Thomas, and having access to this excellent condo at Cowpet Bay will have you planning you next stay even before its time to return home. It truly is an EastEnd Eden.
