What a wonderful week of living right!

5 of 5
We wanted a wonderful quite, fun, peaceful, scenic, slightly pampered get away week of sailing around the Virgin Islands. (We are seasoned travelers and wanted off the grid for a week- well not entirely- we did peak at iPhones a bit.) I had taken a similar sail in 2012 and really enjoyed the trip, so my expectations were high for Deborah and me. This was my 7th time to St John area. Cap'n John and Susan were most accomodating in every way. The boat is wonderful- very comfortable with plenty of privacy for the two of us. Sleeping with the hatch up and being awakened by gentle rain drops in the night was a special treat. Deborah and I even saw a shooting star at 2.00 am as we were sitting up top taking in the beautiful night sky. The boat was always tidy and well-maintained, but we felt right at home, not like stepping into a museum. We stayed in some incredible bays during the nights and experienced the fun of sailing in these waters. Cap'n John and Susan generously showed us some of the local venues for eating and socializing. Watching the super bowl on the beach with the friendly group was most memorable. Susan guided us on a few hikes and provided just the right of explanation of the history. They gave us the space we sought but also I felt like we were sailing with 2 new friends. Did I mention that the food was fabulous! I'm recommending the Sea Witch to my friends and next time (not soon enough) we go back to the Virgin Islands, for sure we are calling Cap'n John and Susan. I highly recommend the Sea Witch.

Wonderful vacation on sailing yacht PRIDE!

5 of 5
Our week of sailing aboard PRIDE in the USVI and BVI was a marvelous adventure! PRIDE's owners, who are a highly professional crew and wonderful hosts, designed our itinerary to suit our wish for an active, but stress-free, vacation on and in the water. Best of all, we didn't have to do anything other than to come aboard, and enjoy. PRIDE is a meticulously maintained and surprisingly comfortable home on the water. PRIDE offers plenty of space - indoors and out - to stretch out or to move around. The bimini cover, which protects the deck area from sun and elements, has been raised allowing plenty of headroom even for very tall people. Detatchable side shades allowed us to enjoy being on deck even in angled sun or occasional windy rain. Among PRIDE's many "simple" luxuries, we especially appreciated the abundant hot and cold running water (thanks to PRIDE's onboard desalination system) and the powerful electronic flush toilets. I particularly enjoyed showering with the hand-held showers on sugarscoops just as I came out of water from snorkeling, and using the provided bar soap, Tresemme shampoo and conditioner, and cushy towels. Sailing on PRIDE was exhilarating, with days of sustained wind and with Pride's owner/captain (three times around the world solo!) at the helm. When not sailing, we snorkeled from the boat, dinghied to remote beaches, and occasionally hiked from shore to interesting sites on land. We saw dolphins (including a mom and baby who swam around the boat for several minutes), sea turtles, rays, and barracudas close up from the boat, as well as the many wonderful creatures we saw under the sea while snorkeling. After our activities, we loved coming "home" to PRIDE and to excellent meals - healthy, appropriately portioned, invariably delicious, and designed to suit our tastes and preferences. When moored each night in a different location, we were awed by the brilliance of the stars and clarity of constellations - diminished only by the astonishing full moon reflecting on the water. We slept soundly on PRIDE's comfortable beds, with memory foam toppers and high-end bed linens, while excellent AC in the cabins, as well as fans, insured fresh cool night air even in tropical humidity. I highly recommend sailing on PRIDE, both for the comforts of PRIDE herself and for the expertise and congeniality of her outstanding owners/crew!
