A little piece of paradise!

4 of 5
Just got back from St. Thomas and staying in Chuck's unit. As a first time HomeAway user I was a bit skeptical but everything turned out great. The pictures posted are exactly what you get. The unit was very clean and spacious. Having two bathrooms and a king size bed was a definite plus. The kitchen was indeed very well stocked - there are even lots of spices in the cabinet that we didn't need to buy. The snorkeling was great right off the beach - we saw turtles and stingrays (even an spotted eagle ray) along with multitudes of fish. There are a variety of sizes of fins along with a few masks in the unit although you may want to bring your own mask and snorkel. There is one snorkel vest for an adult and one small child size snorkel vest. There are some beach toys, floats, boogie boards and several beach chairs which came in handy on our visits to other beaches. The only negative on Sapphire Beach right now is that there is a mass amount of seaweed landing on the beach due to the wind direction. The staff on site were very diligent about cleaning it every day but they just couldn't keep up. This was not a deterrent to go in the water though.. it was still beautiful. The pool grill and cabana are closed right now for re-construction but the pool is still open and this was the perfect time of year to visit to feel like we were the only ones there as most days we were! Building B is being completely renovated (as in gutted and re-done) right now but the construction noise surprisingly was not a problem or too loud. The pavillion by the beach is also being renovated but the dive shop is still open renting equipment and beach chairs were plentiful. We had one issue with the air conditioning when we arrived -it was not working downstairs but after a few emails and a few days it was fixed. Chuck was very friendly and prompt in responding to all of my emails with questions before the trip and he provided lots of great information beforehand. The security staff on site were also very friendly and kept the cruise ship guests out of the pool area which was nice. I would recommend this unit to anyone looking. Basically what you see is what you get and it was great! Thanks Chuck for providing a place to call home for 9 days in paradise! Christine and Darrell

Excellent vacation

I love Caribbean, and I think, I probably visited most of the places. Belize, Cancun, Dominican republic and etc. I usually go for 4 or 5 star all inclusive resorts, and cruises where you don't have to think about anything : food, entertainment essentially, you don't have to think of anything and this time, I decided to do something different. I wanted to try St. Thomas. Everyone is raving about St. Thomas , so I decided to give it a try and now I have to say, that was the best vacation, I ever had. Beautiful views- first of all, the island looks different, I think it has volcanic origin, so it is surrounded by green mountains and it looks amazing. The condo is right on the beach and the views are amazing. . Because the island is surrounded by other islands that act as wave breakers, there are no waves. That is why it is great for snorkeling, it has coral reefs, tons of fish that swim right around you and spotted sting ray. I stayed at Sapphire beach condo C-204 unit and the owner left two pairs of professional snorkeling equipment free to use. Since there are no waves, it is a perfect place for water paddling or kayaking. Kayak rental costs $15 per hour. The water- The water was amazing, it is so clear and warm, you can literally go into the water and stay there for 2 hours. The temperature itself is very comfortable and there is always a little breeze. When I stayed there the temperature was 84 degrees, and we had the doors to the balcony open, and we didn't even have to use air conditioner it was that comfortable. The condo itself was great, It had new kitchen it had two LCD tvs, with cable channels, including Cinemax . The kitchen comes equipped with electric oven, microwave and big fridge. It has everything you need to cook, pans, plates, cups. The food shopping is relatively nearby, but I took a taxi anyway to Food Court, it is a big store it has a better selection and great prices for liquor. Don't buy anything at the airport their prices about 30% higher. Overall, like I said it was the best lazy vacation, I ever took. The nature is so beautiful, the water, the ambiance of the place and it was not crowded at all. I loved the place, I loved the condo, and big thanks to MIchael for providing excellent service and thanks for our best vacation

A tropical paradise in a great location!

This property is an awesome value! The balcony has a great view of Cruz Bay on St. John, is very comfortable/clean and allows easy access to public transportation or taxis. I highly recommend renting this unit as the owners are very attentive and generous (excellent customer service). We would absolutely stay here again. The beach is amazing (great snorkeling) and a marina is also available complete with charter opportunities for fishing or excursions to nearby islands. The listing is accurate as are the pictures. Thank you Michelle and Anthony for being such helpful and gracious hosts!!
