My December trip to St. John couldn't have been better. Location, Location, Location. This vacation house was perfect. On a hill overlooking Cruz Bay, it has spectacular views and is surrounded by lush tropical greenery and singing birds. It is close enough to walk down to restaurants and shopping, but believe me, even if you are a runner like I am you really need to rent a car to get back and forth. It is hilly! A lot of great snorkeling and hiking spots are just a short drive away, besides all the other water sports available to arrange in town. St. John is the least developed of the U.S. Virgin Islands, since two thirds of it is protected Virgin Islands National Park. This sets it apart from all other islands and beach resorts I have ever visited. It is gorgeous and still not overcrowded. And the comfortable accommodations made it perfect. The quiet and private living quarters had all the necessary amenities combined for a relaxing stay. My favorite restaurants were Sun Dog in Cruz Bay and for a very special romantic evening, a short drive away is Asolare. I felt like I was on the Amalfi Coast enjoying wonderful cuisine, looking from the hill top at a gorgeous sunset over Cruz Bay.
