PERFECT BEACH CASUAL GETAWAY

5 of 5
My husband and I wanted a place to relax and find some adventure before our upcoming 1st child, and this was the perfect cottage for that experience! The quiet calm of Coral Bay/Lameshur was perfect in comparison to the more touristy Cruz Bay. We looked for the best deal within our budget, and were very happy with the price and amenities. Russ and Liz answered emails promptly with very helpful information, which made us more certain to rent with them. The cottage is clean and comfortable, with everything we needed. Even though the bed was a full, it was very comfortable and we slept well with the island breeze coming through the screen windows (no AC). There were snorkels, beach chairs, floats, towels, and a kayak for our beach needs. We enjoyed hikes and snorkeling at the nearby national park (just down the street- but you definitely need a 4-wheel drive to get there). Every day we took a drive to a different beach. One in the morning, and one in the afternoon. Favorites: Trunk & Cinnamon Bay (if you get there early before the large groups or later in the day after they've already left), the Peace Hill hike down to Denis Bay, Waterlemon Bay, and Salt Pond Bay (near the cottage). The best evening we spent was snorkeling in Salt Pond until right before sunset, when we hiked to Ram's Head (a trail connected to Salt Pond). Amazing view and experience followed by an excellent sea food dinner at Miss Lucy's (also with a lovely setting by a bay). Beach casual is definitely the way to describe the cottage. It's not a place to rent if you want a "posh" experience, even though we had everything we needed. Bonus- good books & DVDs, and very nice neighbors renting the larger house next door. A few things to note: groceries are expensive on the island, but we really liked the local Calabash Market in Coral Bay (open til 10) and the nicer/bigger Starfish Market in Cruz Bay. Burgers were great at Skinny Legs (Coral Bay), and we got cheaper sandwiches for lunch at Deli Grotto in Cruz Bay. Overall- wonderful experience for adventure lovers! We will cherish the memories we made here always.

PERFECT IN MANY WAYS

5 of 5
A perfect retreat to commune with nature and its delightful inhabitants. We were supplied with everything we needed to have a relaxing, delightful escape and Allison was a welcoming and responsive host. Outdoor bedroom was a treat. Definitely would choose Eco Retreat again.

WOULD NOT HESITATE TO RECOMMEND TO ANYONE

5 of 5
I stayed in the Island Gardens vacation rental for a week and half at the end of April, and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. It's clean, quiet, airy, well-provisioned, and Marcia and John were very welcoming and accommodating. I had a great time. I didn't rent a vehicle because I intended to spend my time primarily hiking and swimming in the less-touristy bits of the island, and found the location very suitable for that. The bus stops nearby, but don't count on getting a taxi from Cruz Bay to here, unless perhaps you're in a group. When I told Marcia my plan was to spend the second half of my vacation on St Thomas she commented that I would likely miss St John, and she was right - I loved the island and a big part of that was having such a comfortable place to stay. If I have a chance to return to St John I will certainly inquire whether this unit is available.
