Darice and John Oliver O.C. Maryland

5 of 5
Fabulous, very comfortable, spacious, details were very well thought out, Not only was the kitchen well equipped, it has the best of everything, great sound system. Night time great star gazing, and sleeping in very cozy bed and all you can hear are frogs chirping.Morning wake up to great views of all surrounding islands. Our first time to St. John, can't wait to get back .Moonglow definitely made it special.

Tree House Living at it's Finest

5 of 5
My husband and I both agreed that our favorite part of our St. John vacation was greeting the sun each morning in our cozy tree house bed; the muted pastel of the sunrise sky perfectly complimented by the baby blue accents of the deck made even softer seen through the gossamer of the rustling, romantic netting surrounding us, the cacophonous sounds of the jungle ready with a serenade. Breaking the spell and getting out of bed was rewarded with a strong cup of coffee and breakfast taken on the upstairs deck where the sweeping views were even more impressive. Allison was a wonderful host and made sure that we had everything we needed for a self-sufficient getaway. She provided wonderful information and plenty of communication before our arrival to ensure we had a relaxing and stress-free vacation. That strong coffee I brought from home was on Allison's recommendation. Our rental car was waiting for us at the ferry was thanks to Allison contacting our car company in advance of our arrival. Allison greeted us there herself and gave us an escort from Cruz Bay to the cottage, making sure to point out important sign-posts and landmarks which were vital to our navigation throughout the trip. We even had groceries waiting for us upon arrival (provided by St. John Provisions) thanks to a recommendation from Allison. The well appointed kitchen provided most of our meals, the only disappointment being that the gas grill was not working properly during our stay. The cottage was exactly as described and we had no issues limiting our water or power needs as required for the house's ecosystem. The only word of warning I would add to this review is that the mosquitoes were savage. My husband and I used some serious Deet based repellant and it was still not enough to avoid dozens of bites on our legs and arms. The nets were mostly sufficient (though some slipped through stray holes) but as soon as we were in the open we were beset upon immediately and had to spray ourselves liberally. Certainly a small price to pay for the wonderful experience of open air-living but should be taken into account. All of the many other critters (lizards, birds, bees, geckos etc) were delightful and welcome. If we ever visit St. John again we would not hesitate to book Allison's cottage again for our stay.

Would not hesitate to recommend to anyone

5 of 5
I stayed in the Island Gardens vacation rental for a week and half at the end of April, and would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone. It's clean, quiet, airy, well-provisioned, and Marcia and John were very welcoming and accommodating. I had a great time. I didn't rent a vehicle because I intended to spend my time primarily hiking and swimming in the less-touristy bits of the island, and found the location very suitable for that. The bus stops nearby, but don't count on getting a taxi from Cruz Bay to here, unless perhaps you're in a group. When I told Marcia my plan was to spend the second half of my vacation on St Thomas she commented that I would likely miss St John, and she was right - I loved the island and a big part of that was having such a comfortable place to stay. If I have a chance to return to St John I will certainly inquire whether this unit is available.
