The perfect place for our family

5 of 5
The view over the bay looking out toward St. Thomas is as good as it gets on the island, whether enjoying a morning cup of coffee on the front deck or a late day swim in the new pool. This was the perfect place for my wife and I, our two adult children, and their spouses. The home is open, airy, and well-appointed/equipped. Among the amenities we enjoyed were the large ceiling fans in each room (we rarely used the AC), the huge sliding glass doors with screens that allow the breezes to blow through, the large ice maker for filling up coolers for outings, the filtered water system (no need for store-bought water unless that's your preference), the outdoor eating area and stone table seating 8, and of course the new pool that is larger than it seems on the website and deep. The location is great. Just walk down the private pathway to a flat road below that allows easy access to the Westin facilities. The traffic on that road was light -- we walked a lot and saw plenty of other walkers/joggers. We went on day treks to the beaches or to go hiking or boating, but we found ourselves wanting to return early to enjoy the view, cocktails and great family times at this very special, private villa. I'm not sure how it could be any nicer or more comfortable. We can't recommend it highly enough.

Super Sweet Dreams

5 of 5
This villa is lovely and a bit funky! Beautiful local granite/stone walls partially inside and out are charming but make the interior spaces very dark and the lighting in the living area at night is VERY dim, making reading there almost impossible. The deck is a wonderful place to hang out with a nice view over Chocolate Hole and sunsets over St. Thomas, but watch for very slippery tile floors inside and out when wet. Kitchen was very well-stocked except for a few necessary things: there is no icemaker and no ice cube trays to make ice (with purchased water); no dish drainer and no knife sharpener, all of which are needed. The gas grill was used nightly and it really could use new burner deflectors and grill grates. The owners provided a lovely supply of deli provisions which was a wonderful welcoming gift. The hot tub looks brand new and was perfect at the end of the day. The owners had taken great care in labeling light switches in the house which was really necessary as they weren't intuitive. The "funky" description of the house arises from the location of a first floor back bathroom consisting of 2 sinks and a toilet, completely unable to be shut off from the rest of the first floor! No door separates this area from the main hallway! There is, however, another full bathroom in the hallway with a nice, big, open stone-walled shower, sink and toilet. The master bedroom is upstairs with a king size bed and a very small powder room - no shower or tub. There is a very nice washer and dryer on the lower level deck, along with beach chairs, umbrella, coolers, etc. There is a separate "apartment" in the lower level of the house that can only be reached by going through the living room of the house, then outside the house onto the deck and down a flight of stairs. The only entrance is through sliding glass doors. It consists of a living area, kitchen, queen bedroom and bathroom. It is being newly renovated. The drive up to the house will be daunting for those not used to St. John properties! Iguana Rd. is a steep, rocky, and rough incline. You need at 4wd vehicle; the driveway to the house itself is steeply sloped down. We were fortunate to be able to move our belongings into the house early in the day while the cleaning crew was there. However, we had a very cursory orientation to the house by the property manager who belatedly told us he was in a hurry to orient other renters in their houses and left us kind of abruptly.

Relax with Great Views!

5 of 5
My husband and I recently met our daughter, who lives in Tortola, at Odessa for a week vacation. The home was very comfortable, has a great pool and hot tub, and fantastic ocean views with breezes! We loved the outdoor eating area, the gas grill was very convenient, and the location fantastic! We were met at the ferry dock with our rental Jeep from Aqua Blue Rentals. The sisters there were very helpful and answered ALL our questions. A housekeeper checked on us as well as the pool maintenance guy. The pool was crystal clear and great to relax in after a day visiting a beach on St. John. Loved the home!!!
