Spectacular setting and beautiful, spacious home in Tortola's West End - easy to access 45 min. ferry from St. Thomas, but secluded from the busy main port of Roadtown. The friendly property manager met us at the ferry with our rental car(s) and lead us to the house to make sure we were settled in. The West End is filled with luxury villas, lovely restaurants and secluded beaches. We stayed for the week of Thanksgiving with our 3 teenage/young adult sons - all who had a memorable experience. This location is perfect for those who like to avoid the "all-inclusive resort" type vacation, and seek to experience the authentic beauty and flavor of the BVI while still feeling pampered and enjoying a luxury vacation. This beautifully appointed home served as the perfect base from which we explored the island. The house was filled with fresh flowers from the gorgeous and abundant gardens that surround the house and the sparkling pool is also lighted at night for after-dinner dips. Furnishings are fine quality, the kitchen is fully stocked with cookware and beautiful tabletop items.
We spent one amazing afternoon snorkeling in the hidden-away Brewer's Bay (rent snorkel gear at Blue Water Divers at either Nanny Cay or Sopers Hole). The beach was deserted, and the fish abundant. On another day we zipped through the tree-tops over Roadtown with the Original Virgin Canopy Tour - a fantastic operation run by seasoned pros. Half the adventure is just getting to their base of operations high above Sir Francis Drake channel. Another fantastic day was spent sailing to Virgin Gorda Baths and snorkeling around the sunken Rhone ship with Aristocat Charters (out of either Sopers Hole or Roadtown). But the best part of the trip was lingering around the gorgeous pool at the Villa, enjoying the spectacular sunrise and sunsets from the generous balconies, and appreciating the incredible level of detail that went into the house. You'll find everything you need and more - nothing has been overlooked. Groceries can be bought at the convenience store near the house, or at one of the larger supermarkets on the island. You'll need a 4-wheel drive vehicle for the many hills on the island, but it's all part of the adventure. Thanksgiving dinner at The Sugar Mill on the north side was beautiful and historic; a perfect setting. Everyoneone was warm, inviting, friendly and helpful - can't overstate the quality of this experience; we'll be back!
