        A Great Family Vacation Spot

        5 of 5
We wanted a family vacation with quality time together for the six of us (two adults and four kids) and this place worked great for us. We spent lots of time doing day trips hiking, fishing, mountain biking, canoeing, visiting nearby towns. We loved the living room with the pine walls and cathedral ceiling. The dining room was plenty big enough for our crew for meals as well as board games in the evenings. The kids all had their bedrooms on one floor and there was a family room off all their bedrooms - so they essentially had a floor to themselves. Very nice set up for a big family like ours. The deck is very big and most dinners were grilled and eaten outside. I really liked how up in the trees it felt on the deck. I imagine it would be fabulous in the fall with the autumn colors. The cost was very reasonable and it was much more enjoyable than a motel. We had lots of space and the full kitchen had everything we needed. We also really like the lake - very peaceful and not crowded.

Beautiful home - great for multiple families

        5 of 5
We absolutely loved this home! We traveled with three adults and six kids, ages 3-15 and everyone had a wonderful time. The home was spacious yet cozy and very comfortable. There was plenty of space to spread out and having the second living area downstairs was perfect for the adults and older kids to hang out and play games or cards after the little ones went to bed. The location is superb, very close to hiking, fishing and boating, all of which we enjoyed during our stay. The clubhouse was great for swimming and the kids liked the game room. The house was fully stocked with everything we needed for cooking and cleaning up. The only thing I would recommend for future guests is to have a map of the Chimney Hill buildings (main building, clubhouse etc) and outdoor spots so that guests know where to go. Also, it would have been helpful to know the office closed at 4 since we missed out on the clubhouse and swimming on our first night because the office was closed. It may have been in the welcome materials but we didn't see it. However, most everything else was in the welcome materials and Irene was very responsive to all questions via email. The beds were very comfortable as were the couches. There was always at least two or three people flopped on them! The roads and driveway were fine but I can see that they would be tough in the winter so 4 wheel drive would be a must. Otherwise everything was wonderful and we will most definitely rent again. Thank you Irene for a fabulous stay and for letting us extend it just a bit more.

        December 2012 weekend in Vermont

        4 of 5
We had a great weekend, 11 people (6 adults, 5 kids) stayed 3 nights.House was very clean and well maintained. Rooms are much larger than shown in the photos. Living room and kitchen area are very big. Went sledding on the killer hill by the White House (and hurt my knee, so be careful). Had beers at the Maple Leaf while the wives shopped in Wilmington. We'll be back.
